I would do a lot of things differently if I could go back and do it again, most notably being a hell of a lot more strict on what is a viable excuse for incomplete work. [addsig]

So my lack of dedication is shown by splinter? Which was like what? 90% done befoer I joined NW? How about your NS work that you worked on under the pretense of you're in a mapping "ditch" while your NW mapping assignments were pushed asside and than given up? Sorry I was at school spending most of my time working on school work. Cause as I see it my portfolio isn't exactly exagerrated with work that I did while neglecting NW.

PV seems to be able to handle it while being kind and fair to everyone rather than having a sudden elitist attitude. He answers questions and responds fairly to everyone rather than "leaving" only to come back and throw around the people who work for him around simply because they call you on the fact you NEVER seemed to support the underlings who worked the project. And this is all I'm going to say about this matter.
you are quick tojudge, but you find it hard to care about some people, especially me.

DVD? My copy is on 3 CDs. Surely you have a CD drive?
Seriously, can anyone point me to a tutorial that helps you just get used to this editor and tells you how everything works? The camera alone is driving me slightly insane, and sometimes when I try to make a brush bigger it just drags it across the workspace, and sometimes it doesn't...help! I be confuzled! Arg! [addsig]

let me get a computer first and the time, and we'll see whats up with d3
~ I can't wait for halflife still. I think it'll be better than d3 in my opinion.
yes I know they are different games, but I like HL2's strengths better

HL2 still looks nicer to me and always has, but I'm still looking forward to D3. Must be just about out over here by now...think its this friday.
On the topic of learning other editors, I installed softimage last night and tried a couple of tutorials. While I am obviously new to it, and perhaps there are acceptable workarounds, I found the inability to do things such as save your custom GUI layout or save light (and no doubt other object) property presets pretty debilitating. Some actions such as moving the camera around seemed exceptionally tricky - I can appreciate that not all editors will feature Hammer style camera movement but the tutorials seemed to cover no rotate ability, and orbiting and then panning is not a suitable method. Having zoom linked to the same mode as panning, but dollying in and out a seperate one again, seemed insane to me, as surely you are more likely to want to move the camera position in and out while panning, as opposed to zooming it in and out?!
Meh, I may persevere or I might go back to learning Milkshape or 3Dsmax (if I can ever find a version that will work on my copy of XP
), both seemed far nicer to me.
