Currently listening to Daft Punks new album Human After All. I give it 3.8/5, but they where better before.
On the Eight day, god created func_details, and he saw that it was fast.

Anyone who likes rock music, not matter how heavy or light, should check out "Freak Kitchen". Amazing band, elements of all different genres, and the guitarist
Very unique, uses alot of interesting techniques and effects.
Mattias IA Eklundh ring a bell? Hes features on a varied load of other bands CD's, even death metal bands like Soilwork, but the music isn't death metal so don't worry about that. Just try downloading some first, or check out thier website. They have clips of every song on thier website.

Architecture In Helsinki - Fingers Crossed: Generally a crazy poppish sort of thing, some songs are better than others, none too bad though.
Architecture In Helsinki - In Case We Die: Even better, I've only listened to the first 5 songs as of yet but they're all good if a bit samish.
Mary Lou Lord - Got No Shadow: Don't really know how to describe this other than she's a really great singer and can strum on the 'ol acoustic too.
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - The Tyranny Of Distance: Saw him on Conan a while back and thought it was good, but everytime I downloaded one of his songs, I didn't like it. So I switched to another album and found this and <3'd it.

I picked up "Crimson" by Alkaline Trio, but haven't had much opportunity to listen to it yet. First few tracks seemed good but the album seems to die off toward the end, which is a bit of a shame. Their albums tend to get better with repeat listenings though, so I'll wait and see. Also grabbed the Hundred Reasons album "Shatterproof is not a Challenge" since it was on sale. Again, it was good to start with but sort of gets a bit samey as it goes on. Can't complain for ?4 though

I've listened to Crimson maybe... 10-15 times now, and I have to say your initial reaction was right on the money. The CD seemed to die after track 6.
Another thing, them being on Vagrant records and having the same producer as Green Day has really changed the way they feel. Sure they still have a morbid fixation, but they just dont sound like they did on any other albums. The electronic voice warbling on track...3? just screams over-producing.
I mean... I really preferred it when they sang about getting hammered to forget about their latest girl problems. There was something endearing about their drunkeness.

The album is a bunch of crap! I love Daft Punk, but really, the new album seems to be a few samples all distorted with thier guitar organic sound. You could happily take each song, cut it down, and combine it into 1 10 minute song and it would sound right, thats how boring the album is.
And French Toast it was me who said about Freak Kitchen
If you like Joe Satriani, try out "Freak Guitar" (its like a guitar for singing thing done by Freak Kitchen).

Got all the albums by Clinic, too... they sound a lot like Radiohead, in a good way.
