Wait, where does he fit in?

(Rod Stewart pweenz)

I think you'll see what I've been listening to by looking at my signature. You're stupid if you say you don't like rap - 99% of it is terrible, but if you sift through all the trash there's some that's quite good.

Cass, look up 'Necro - Poetry in the streets'... and by look up I mean purchase. I think the only reason I like it is because it's so distasteful and twisted. He's far better than any of the MTV whore rappers. I'm looking at you Chingy.

some of my favorites:

MegaDeth: Peace sells , hanger 18 (some other are cool, but not all)

Metallica: all songs pre black album, and Orion and The call of the ktulu if they are not pre black album.

Drowning pool: whole Sinner album

System of a Down , Queens of the stoneage, Rage against the machine, Primus, The Faction (Let's go get cokes), Iron maiden, Judas Priest,

that covers most bands i know that are realy good.

Does their version of whisky in the jar count? That far back is before my time, but that song rocks.

Whiskey In The Jar was a decent cover, but I preferred their version of Astronomy much more...but then I have a soft spot for Blue Oyster Cult [addsig]

Turn The Page was the best cover IMO.

Whiskey In The Jar was a cover of a Thin Lizzy song, which in turn was an adaptation of a traditional folk song. All versions are just as good as each other.

Astronomy was a Blue Oyster Cult song and both versions are good though I prefer the original to the Metallica adaptation. You must have heard of Blue Oyster Cult though - they're the band that did 'Don't Fear The Reaper'. Another classic

Also, i'm listening to King's X at the moment. Anyone else into them at all, or is that just me?

Heh, I guess I inherited a lot of my music tastes from my parents - my dad was always a big listener of stuff like Journey, Boston, Neil Young etc. and my mum's a Queen & Beatles fan. They both used to play in folk bands so i've got them to blame for corrupting me [addsig]

I loved Bowling for Soup...until I heard them. I figured I'd have to love them with a name like that, it sounded so much like a random Ska band kinda name, but I was disappointed I've only heard a couple of singles though, so perhaps I'm being too judgemental.

I really do like some pop-punk stuff though, such as Good Charlotte (first album in particular), the Starting Line, or New Found Glory. Yeah so many of the songs sound the same, but some of them really do stand out, and while perhaps they aren't the most monumental of music, they are still perfectly enjoyable.

Anybody got the most recent Less Than Jake album "B is for B-Sides"? I was looking to pick it up, but couldn't find it anywhere so asked for it for christmas. Just after doing so I found it in HMV but didn't think I should buy it in case some relative already had. Also because it was seventeen pounds. Sometimes high street retailers really charge too much

Hrmm, my friend was always into such bands, she loves Bowling for Soup and I was like bleh. Then again I made it a point to absolutely hate any band she liked.

Punkesque-wise, I'm into The International Noise Conspiracy, Tiger Army, and Die Arzte, and I don't understand a word that the last is saying but they sound good so I don't really care.

I only really like Good Charlottes first two albums, their new one I haven't really listened to but it doesn't sound that good.

I haven't listened to less that jake but I've heard their good, might get that album.

It's a decent enough album ReNo but its not worth ?17. It's only about 30 mins long and is over far too soon [addsig]

I haven't gotten a Less Than Jake album since Hello, Rockview. I heard a few tracks from Borders & Boundaries and Anthem, but none have interested me enough to buy the whole album, especially with the tragically short album lengths. The whole "ska in the mainstream" thing vanished a bit faster than anyone expected. Perhaps record labels were uneasy about signing bands with so many members? (seriously... they're not into spending more than necessary, and why sign an eight piece when you can sign an equally good four piece?)

Futures is a great album. Jimmy Eat World are one of those bands that just can't make anythging less than perfect.

And Leviathan by Mastodon is still dominating my winamp list. riff after riff after riff after riff...and some insane drumming.
