If you guys like upbeat punk style music check out Kid Dynamite, Lifetime, Dillinger 4, None More Black, or Propaghandi.

Bad Religion is worth checking out, too, of course. And Minor Threat. And Dag Nasty. And Millencolin.

I'm listening to:

Kid606
LTJ Bukem
Kid Dynamite
Lifetime
Elliot Smith
Converge
Counting Crows
Nasum
Neurosis
As the Sun Sets
Aphex Twin
Ehmes
Deltron 3030
Boom Bip and Dose One
and a lot more

And I have no idea why this text is so big, sorry. :/

I do like Propaghandi, Millencolin, Midtown, Pennywise, Fall Out Boy, Authority Zero, The Impossibles, and loads more punk/pop-punk, but that doesn't mean Good Charlotte are without merit. I personally enjoy quite a few of their songs - they aren't up there with my favourites but still enjoyable.

Got "B is for B-Sides" by Less Than Jake at Christmas, and its a bit disappointing. Its got some really good songs like "National Anthem" and "Sleep It Off", but not as many memorable tracks as previous albums. Perhaps it will grow on me though

Also got the Howard's Alias album "The Answer is Never", which is pretty good. Perhaps a little samey, but they have a really good sound that is very reminiscent of Rx Bandits. If you are looking for something similar to them, then this album is well worth checking out.

Yeah I took out the bit about Good Charlotte, I hate music flames. I don't like them for a variety of reasons but it's not worth going into here, you're more then entitled to listen to what you want and I ain't gonna try and tell you what to do.

But seriously, check out Lifetime and Kid Dynamite, and None More Black which is the singer from Kid Dynamite's new band and is much easier to get into than the previous two bands which are more hardcore-oriented.

Ahh small text. :o

Debatable It stretches from Aphex to the Rolling Stones back down to Elgar and Bach!

Most recently I have been listening to..

Prodigy - Dirtchamber sessions Vol I, absolutely quality CD. Fabulous mixing of grandmaster flash, down to beastie boys and even the sex pistols. Good party Cd, and very much in the same vein as..

2manyDJ's - As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt 1/2/3 - all absolutely top notch CD's, even if youre not the biggest fan of "electro pop" style music, trhe way these guys link Destinys Child with the Stooges, with Peaches is just mindblowing - good for a shindig and dance!

My latest acquisitions:

Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress: Great stuff, only CD of theirs that I've found myself able to listen to all the way through, really.

Elliott Smith - Figure 8 + From A Basement On The Hill + XO: His 3 last CDs (I think), they're all super-good, though Figure 8 made me listen to it 3-4 times before I thought that.

I Monster - Neveroddoreven: Found this from the Shaun of the Dead soundtrack, killer electro.

Tegan & Sara - If You Say So + So Jealous + This Business Of Art: Their only 3 CDs, pretty damn good stuff.

The Kovenant - Seti: Dunno how to describe it (not that it's particularly original), but still some good stuff.

Picked up Pearl Jam's greatest hits (rearviewmirror), and I recommend everyone who enjoys rock music should do so as well.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has been a favourite recently as well.

i tend to like songs on the flip side of 45's best.

"Witch Hunt" was on the back side of Rush's "Tom Sawyer"

I also dearly love Alan Parsons "In the lap of the gods" I could listen to it looped for hours.

28 days in, and i've already found album of the year. No, don't bother looking for anything else, because I've just discovered it.

The Mars Volta -- Frances The Mute

Maybe it's just due to me listening to this at 3 in the morning, or maybe this really is the best album f**kin' eva. Psychadelic, mad, insane, sexy, loud, heavy, soft, sensual, dirty, inspiring, genius...there's too many words to use to describe it. This is NOT De-Loused Mark. 2, this is a whole new breed of skullf**king prog-rock.

Recently been listening to The Arcade Fire, a really interesting little Canadian band. Great stuff, but I'm not sure what genre to apply to them... They're got guitars, drums, violins, piano, etc. Very good stuff. Some of my favorite tracks, if you want to track 'em down are Rebellion (Lies), Neighborhood #3 (Power Out), and Une Annee Sans Lumiere.

In another vein, I've been listening to My Bloody Valentine (and that name is incredibly misleading for the style of music- so don't judge it by that). If you've seen Lost in Translation, they do the song at the very closing of the movie. That track is called Sometimes. I Only Said and I Believe are two other good tracks by them. Their style is kind of heavy instrumental matched with interesting vocals. Sometimes is a much more epic song than the other two, with great developement and tone.

I've recently been listening to my Mogwai stuff too- great little moody jam band. Really good instrumentals on some tracks. Highlights include A Cheery Wave from Stranded Youngsters, Ratts of the Capitol, Golden Porche, and Hunted by a Freak.

Finally, I've been listening to a few tracks from Damien Rice. He's most recently been known for his track on the movie Closer called The Blowers Daughter. It's a great vocal track, if you're into lighter, deep soft-rock. [addsig]

Is the new Mars Volta album a return to At the Drive In-quality or the same idea as Deloused, as that album sucked. What I'm saying is if you hated their first album is their second worth hearing?

I have decided that I really like The Faint, and I'll probably go out and buy all their albums just for the hell of it. Their best stuff I think is on Danse Macabre, it's dark, singable, and reminds me of NIN - Pretty Hate Machine.

I also suggest downloading The Stooges - Search and Destroy, as that is simply an awesome song made better by its usage in the movie The Life Aquatic.

De-Loused wasn't bad, it was just very, very eratic. Some of the tracks are really quite nice once you get past the ecentricities.

Oh, and another Iggy Pop and the Stooges track to get would be I Wanna be Your Dog. Awesome stuff. [addsig]

The Arcade Fire was kinda boring for me, though for some reason I kept listening to Haiti over and over.

And while I'm here... Kage, you should get Kreator - Enemy of God, knowing you're a metalhead and all.

I'm that way with Neighborhood #3, I just can't seem to get enough of it. They just have such an offbeat sound and a great message. [addsig]
