Is the new Mars Volta album a return to At the Drive In-quality or the same idea as Deloused, as that album sucked. What I'm saying is if you hated their first album is their second worth hearing?

This is five times as eccentric and psychadelic, so if you didn't like that aspect from De-Loused, don't bother with Frances The Mute. Of course, if you DID like the eccentricity, you'll gobble it up.

Speaking of eccentricity, System Of A Down's new single "Cigaro" is a fine example.

i have fairly eclectic tastes in music, i tend to lean toward that which is based on primo musicianship more than that which is popular....visa vi, ive been using a bit of nepitism, listening to my godson's band, which is collecting quite a large following thru the midwestern US, and although ska and latin based rock is not my favorite stuff, they have grown on me quite a bit of late....

heres a link, feel free to comment, ya wont hurt my feelings...

well hell Andrew, 'tis a small world.....

glad you enjoyed it.... im not gonna sit here and tell you that the boys in anchondo are relatives of beethoven, but they do put on a damn good show....im quite proud of my godson, and namesake (Alex the drummer) as he had nothing but obstacles in front of him when he was a kid....his dad and i used to play together many years ago, and ive watched him grow not only into a fine musician, but a damn good kid too..... i truly hope he does well....

***puffs up chest, struts about the room...

Doc B...

by the way andrew, what was yer old bands name, if i may?....ive played around the midwest myself for many years ...

dont know why, but ive been quite angry lately, and finding myself listening to bands like disturbed, godsmack, drowing pool , etc.....wondering where the anger comes from; stress, life in general, etc.....doing the head banging thing in the truck just to get pumped up for work.....unusual for an old fart like myself.....

must be a phase....

Doc B...

hey Lep...any way i can get rid of that old DRS tag without screwing up the works?

Just rediscovered my Kerbdog CD Mexican Wave and Sally are great songs - and they've just reformed too so hopefully a new album will be in the works...

Got 'Regular Urban Survivors' on at the moment by Terrorvision. Another great band that never lasted.

And the new System Of A Down song is just plain crazy Can't wait for the album(s).

I am in FULL f**king fanboy mode here:

NEW NIN s**tZNER

HALO 18 -- THE HAND THAT FEEDS

HALO 19 -- NINE INCH NAILS: WITH TEETH

1. All The Love In The World
2. You Know What You Are?
3. The Collector
4. The Hand That Feeds
5. Love Is Not Enough
6. Every Day Is Exactly The Same
7. With Teeth
8. Only
9. Getting Smaller
10. Sunspots
11. The Line Begins To Blur
12. Beside You In Time
13. Right Where It Belongs

The first thought that came across my mind was "finally, Trent's thinking up good song titles" (Besides You In Time, All The Love In The World). There's also a little teaser (even if it isn't much, though I'm inclined to beleive it's the single greatest teaser ever)! It won't stream for me off the nin website, so here's a direct link you can save I found:

http://boss.streamos.com/download/i...aser_30s_hi.mov

[EDIT]: Also found an mp3 someone's done if you don't like messing with QT (though it doesn't have the pretty visuals):

http://members.shaw.ca/nsixx/wt_teaser.mp3

It's interesting, to say the least. Definately different, which I'm sure we've all come to expect. Now, if you'll excuse me...

/me gibbers as he listens to the teaser on loop

Recently aquired all 4 of the official Godspeed you Black Emporer! CD's, and I have to say that I'm thoroughly impressed with them. They're classified as both Rock and orchestraic, so if you're into that sort of thing, I would highly suggest checking out a few of their tracks. There aren't any vocals, and some most of the songs span 10-20 minutes, but God they're gorgeous.

Good tracks to look up- Storm, motherf**ker=redeemer (part 1) (taking into account the curse-word filter here ), rockets fall on Rocket Falls.

Very good background/driving music IMO. [addsig]

'Curtains' by John Frusciante.

By far the best of the 6 albums he's released this year. Some truly beautiful guitar-work.

Also picked up 'You & Me' by Open Hand after hearing a track on the Roadrunner Records website. For some reason all the music magazines are comparing them to Queens Of The Stone Age, but they remind me much more of King's X. It's a great album and i've not stopped playing it in my car.

Going to pick up the new 'Bloc Party' album tomorrow as it's pay day (finally!).

Dream Theater's "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence".. if you're into metal (or just want something new), i highly recommend this.

'Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons'. One of the very few songs to move me to tears as i listened. it's ~24 minutes long, and has entire segments dedicated to instrumental.. so keep an open mind. Here's a small taste..

? quote:
We can learn from the past
But those days are gone
We can hope for the future
But there might not be one
The words stuck in my mind
alive from what I've learned
I have to seize the day
To home I returned
Preparing for her flight
I held with all my might
Fearing my deepest fright
She walked into the night
She turned for one last look
She looked me in the eye
I said, 'I Love You...Good-bye'

read the lyrics, or download it.. (depending on your level of morality) =D

ah ive been spotted! ::rushes off::

Blutengel - Demon Kiss: Wow, not even close to as good as their last 3 CDs, this one's really quite boring. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially fans of Blutengel...

Terminal Choice - Menschenbrescher: Pretty decent electro metal (or something), Eiszeit or Engelstod are probably my two favorite tracks, though all are listenable (IMO).

T. Raumschmiere - Radio Blackout: Strange techno/electro, some great stuff though, Someone or A Million Brothers are awesome.
