I hadn't noticed until a wee bit ago but the new Fall Out Boy album finally arrived today. Just really good pop/punk/rock from an initial listen through, but then I knew it would be going by their last album...and from the fact I'd already downloaded the majority of this one <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif"> Gotta love their long track titles too, such as "I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth" and "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More "Touch Me"" from their new album, or "Sending Postcards From A Plane Crash "Wish You Were Here"" and "Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to do Today" from their last one.

So yeah, if you like pop-punk but don't want half the crap that Blink-182, Good Charlotte or Sum 41 churn out, then Fall Out Boy are more than worth a look.

Those long titles reminds me of the long titles from "Brand New" one of my favorite bands.

There first album falls into the same pop/rock vein but their second album has some slower more serious music.

Here's a few titles... "Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't," "Good to Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die," "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows," etc.

Check 'em out.

? quoting Agent Smith
as well as the original Blues Brothers movie soundtrack albumn for 10 bucks in a bargain bin, some awesome stuff on that one too.

What's a good aussie - us currency conversion factor? Cause ten bucks isn't quite a bargain bin over here.

Well Cash, 10 bucks here is about 7-7.50 in the US, I believe.

I gotta say I can't listen to Audio Slave. I love RATM and SoundGarden, but AS is just a bastardised mix of the two, and the music is way too generic for any of the people in the band to be playing.

Just finished listening through the Gorillaz album Demon Days, and I have to say I'm happy I bought it. If you like the Gorillaz I think you'll like this album. If you like Fatboy Slim / RJD2 or other types of electronic music I say give it a spin. It's definitely not for everyone, but if you like the genre I think the album is pretty good.

Though I haven't bought it yet (if only I had money <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">), these four streaming tracks make me want the new Motion City Soundtrack album very very much. Hugely upbeat and danceable pop rock with a bit of the familiar synth in the background that fans of The Get Up Kids, The Anniversary and Koufax will appreciate. It really strikes me as universally likeable - I just don't see anything about this music that people wouldn't like. If you like any sort of rock music, its well worth a listen.

Yeah, their previous album was top-class so i'm looking forward to this one too. Also heard that 'Life Of Agony' are back together and have a new album so that should also be good. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Bought the new 'Audrey Horne' album yesterday and it's pretty damn amazing. A little bit 'Alice in Chains' inspired but i'll let them off as it's pulled off well.

Well I was down at the concorde 2 in brighton today and had some really good local u16's bands from local schools, erm... Alicesgarden (they won a national comp judged by paul macatrney and a guy who I think was from coldplay or some other big band) and a good band called Sour Jane who also rocked.

Is there a title possible for a band that says "We ripped off an already successful sound" more than "Alicesgarden"? Might as well start up a band called Pearl Temple Pilots.

Built to Spill - Keep It Like A Secret
Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On
Guided by Voices - Half-Smiles Of The Decomposed
Jack Johnson - Whatever his new one's called... can't remember :/
Quasi - R&B Transmogrification
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Spoon - A Series Of Sneaks

I did have comments for all of these but then I realized they consisted of nothing more than "good stuff."

I can't get over how awesome the new Coldplay album is- to me, so far, it's perfect, nice selection of both beautiful and anthemic songs ('Til Kingdom Come' will be a sure-fire lady-winner on the old acoustic, and the moment 'Fix You' kicks in... oh my god!)

Hey i'm looking for a fairly old song but I sadly can't remember what it's called. The refrain is kinda like this
*female voice* I've seen you dance/ And i've never been the same again/for sure/i've seen you dance*
Does it sound familiar to you?

I just listened to some "Faith no More", after re-realising they did both "Epic" and "Easy" (Easy like sunday morning- yes, that song).

They are an amazing band- such a mix of music, from trip hop massive attack style to heavy metal- all kinds of genres in one. Try downloading "Album of the Year" (the album obviously!). Gives a good varied mix so you can hear what they are like.

I'm going to start attempting to write somewhat coherent reviews since I applied to one of my friend's music sites and need the practice. Enjoy.

Kaiser Chiefs - Employment: The simple fact that this CD was hyped and got good reviews made me think of all the crap Blink 182 pumps out that gets good reviews, and so I was ambivalent at best, cynical at worst. For some strange reason, however, I decided to be hopeful that this time they'd be right. After about 30 seconds, I realized that I loved "Everyday I Love You Less And Less" and so my expectations were inflated even more. Alas, they were crushed when I learned I wasn't a big fan of "I Predict A Riot" which is the Chiefs most popular song, and so I didn't hold out much hope that the rest would be good. Inevitably, I didn't think that it was... until I got to "Time Honoured Tradition" and loved it. And loved "Caroline, Yes." And at least liked "Team Mate." Armed with fresh hope, I trudged through the rest of the CD and realized that the reason I didn't like "I Predict A Riot" and indeed the CD in general was because my expectations were too high. After a healthy readjustment of my expectations, I can safely say that although it might not be exactly befitting of the hype/reviews, it's more befitting than most.

More NIN? No? Tough...

Got the remix album Things Falling Apart. IT's decent; a few great ambient tracks and a brilliant dance version of Starf**kers Inc. There's a remix of an unreleased track (bleh?), and a nice cover of Gary Numan's "Metal". Not as harsh or as sonically f**ked up as previous remix albums, but decent all the same.

True ... I think this album might outrun "A Rush Of Blood ..." in the charts.
I'm also looking forward to the new Radiohead album, which should be released this fall.

Other Good cd's recently listened:

  • Thievery Corporation - The Richest Man In Babylon
  • Thievery Corporation - The Mirror Conspiracy
  • Thievery Corporation - The Cosmic Game
I've really become a fan of these guys in the last months. You should try it out, really. I always tought lounge music was easy and repetitive, nothing special. Then I started listening to 'The Cosmic Game' and a new world opened, really. I instantly got the two other albums. Their music is so rich ... they've got influences from all over the world, and the style varies from reggae to techno to oriental to classic to dance. A real musical journey, as they say. Beatifully mastered, too.

  • Doves - Lost Souls
  • Daft Punk - Human After All
  • Gorillaz - Demon Days
Doves are top class, they don't like to be compared to colplay and radiohead, but if you like those, you'll love this.
Daft Punk is just acid french techno. You love it, or you don't. The new Gorillaz album is still in my cd player. Haven't got a chance to take a good listen, but I think it's pretty good if you like that style of music.

Been listening to the new Foo Fighters album- CD1 is pretty boring, and despite rumours it isnt grunge death metal, its crap. CD2 is really interesting and chilled- its like normal foo fighters acoustic rock but with some other addition that I'm not sure what it is.
