There are so many people that like bands like Green Day or Good Charlotte or Simple Plan or any rap or hip-hop artist. It just aggrivates me. If you watch/listen to them live, they suck hard, and that means they aren't good musicians.
Green Day - the guy can barely play guitar when you hear them live
Good Charlotte - nobody can do anything in that band
Simple Plan - The lead singer can whine and that's about it
Any rap or hip-hop artist - Can't go on without 5 billion backup singers to hide the fact that they can't sing.
New music like this annoys me. People say stuff like "oh I'm so gald I listen to real music like beyonce" or crap like that. I wish people would finally figure out which bands are real musicians who write their own stuff.
Anyways, got some Coldplay, they kick ass.

Not to be offensive, but just because you recently discovered Led Zeppelin doesn't mean you have to go off on bands like Green Day or even entire genres like Rap or Hip-hop.
I'm not a fan of any of the newer stuff from Green Day, but I love Dookie, and to some extent Insomniac. I've never seen them in concert, but I've heard good things about them. Regardless, a poor show doesn't necessarily mean their music is terrible or that they themselves are poor musicians. Listen to Dookie all the way through and give some credit where credit is due.
I'm not going to defend Simple Plan, but there are a few songs from Good Charlotte that I like, such as "East Coast Anthem"
As for rap or hip-hop, that's an unbelievable generalization. Sure -- there are some crap "artists" in the rap/hip hop vein, but that's true with EVERY genre of music. If you think that rap and hip-hop artists are no-talent hacks, then listen to some Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Mos Def, and even Jay-Z. Those are only the big names of the genre, but they're big for a reason. They all have some incredible songs.

That video is the single worst music video ever. It's so god-damned overblown; Green Day have really lost the bloody plot. When you make a music video, please, for the love of GOD, don't try to turn it into a mini-epic teenage soap opera (a BAD one at that). The album is good, but Green Day's new found overbloated ego is unbareable.

Bashing people for their taste in music is a pretty piss poor thing to do, regardless of your own musical tastes. Go ahead and bash music because you don't like it, but don't go throwing your opinion around like it was gospel unless you're Jesus f**king Christ himself. Which I doubt.

" Not to be offensive, but just because you recently discovered Led Zeppelin doesn't mean you have to go off on bands like Green Day or even entire genres like Rap or Hip-hop."
I didn't formulate this opinion because I recently discovered Zeppelin. I've always thought this while I was brought up listening to real music like a lot of jazz and beatles. Music by real musicians who were talented and could write their own music and play their own instruments.
I cannot appreciate any rap or hip-hop or stuff from bands like the ones I said because I can't say "wow that's a good song of theirs" when they can't perform it or didn't write it or don't sing it. That's another reason I don't like rap. I would always listen to someone who has vocal abilities who can sing amazingly as opposed to a rapper who talks fast and rhymes biatch with biatch.
Because of these reasons, I started listening to older stuff like Zeppelin and AC/DC and the Doors and Jimi Hendrix. All of whom are real musicians. If you asked them to improvise, they'd be able to do it. Take Led Zeppelin, they hardly ever played their songs the same way twice because they were real musicians who could improvise because they new their instruments inside and out, as opposed to Good Charlotte who got famous saying crap like "Girls don't like boys girls like cars and money"
I have no respect for rappers, hip-hop artists, or new "rock" bands. I'm sorry if you disagree but that is my opinion.

i was drunk and blind at the time please ignore the rather over the top remark that it "kills me" lol, it is rather average.
On the other issue, I used to be all into "real musicians" who write their own music etc etc. Would buy NME, get into all "credible" indie bands but it actually made me narrow minded to other music. Yes I will always have respect and a preference for those bands who do it their own way but to rule out music because of what the artist may or may not have done, or because its a certain genre means you will miss out on some decent stuff. Just my thoughts anyways

That isn't what I'm arguing about; I could care less what you thought about these bands. but to say " New music like this annoys me. People say stuff like "oh I'm so gald I listen to real music like beyonce" or crap like that. I wish people would finally figure out which bands are real musicians who write their own stuff" is damned annoying (especially when half the bands you attack actually do write their own music and actually do play their own instruments). You act like every band that formed past 1985 doesn't write it's own music.

Errr, Green Day and Good Charlotte do write their own songs. And don't base opinions on one or two singles you might have heard - Good Charlotte do have some decent tracks (unlike their admittedly s**tty singles), and Green Day have written more songs than you could shake a stick at and are actually pretty good live (I've seen them a couple of times, both good shows). I'm not saying they're ultra-talented with their instruments or write hugely technical and demanding music, but they aren't "fake musicians" by any stretch of the imagination. There isn't a "musician" exam - if you play music and write music, surely thats what makes you a musician.

It is, a band no matter how heard of or unheard of who writes their own music should be congradulated (as long as it's half decent). Oh and please keep that matter for another thread, do not trash it by going off topic, this is about commenting on a song or band you have seen live, not wether they write their own music or you opionion on that matter.
Anyway matter aside I've been listening to Best Of You by the Foo Fighters, I haven't heard the rest of their album but this song rocks.

Picked up a whole bunch of stuff in the past few weeks. Here's the list:
Audioslave - Out of Exile
Another superb general interest rock album. It's been out a month and I've already heard four tracks played on major radio stations, I think that speaks loads for the depth of the album.
Rush - Moving Pictures
Classic album featuring my favorite Rush song, "Tom Sawyer." Currently the oldest album in my collection.
Foo Fighters - In Your Honor
It looks like this was released in Britain sooner than stateside, as I see a whole bunch of comments about it prior to the US release. Currently, I favor the acoustic disc, but the whole thing rocks.
Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antartica
I've grown to really like the sound this band has, and everyone I've talked to recommended this over Good News for People Who Like Bad News so I bought it. Nice stuff, and some bonus tracks from a BBC recording session tossed on the end.
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
Took a chance on this one with very little knowledge beforehand. I really enjoy the intensely layered approach to building a song that this group seems to have, I've tried to count how many instruments they'll have going at certain points and it can't always be done. I think it's pretty cool too how the vocal duties are passed around the band, so it's not the same person singing every song. Definitely interested in hearing more from these guys.

I've only heard track 3 (which is really good), my friend says it's a good album, the arcade fire isn't my sorta taste though.

I liked one song from the Arcade Fire, Neighborhood #2 (Laika), but the rest didn't tickle my fancy, as it were.
Of Montreal - Satanic Panic In The Attic: Blegh, I'm becoming such a pop whore. At least it's good pop. Check out "Eros' Entropic Tundra," killer tune.
Tenacious D - Tenacious D: I already knew I liked these crazy cats but now I've actually got the album. "City Hall" is my favorite song on it just 'cause some of the singing/lyrics is hilarious beyond belief.
The Apples in Stereo - The Discovery Of A World Inside The Moone: Probably the happiest music I've ever heard, which in this case is a good thing.
The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs: I've got Volume 1 which is awesome, most of Volume 2 which is OK-ish, so I don't hold out much hope for Volume 3. "I Don't Want To Get Over You" and "How f**king Romantic" are nice little ditties.

friends of mine from back home, new CD available late July. But they felt like making the whole thing previewable online. Because they're neat.
