I'm more into industrial... listening to a lot of Panzer AG lately. This track is great:

LINKZ0R

RAR file, password is "snark"

Reminds me a lot of the trailer for QUAKE IV... you'll see what I mean right at the opening quote (from day of the dead i think)... image

If you don't know industrial... it is dark electronic dance music. Usually a harsh, alienated tone and sometimes a good bit of 'noise' so to speak. NIN is sort of "pop" industrial.. fun, but nothing compared to the real stuff.

Woo! Tenacious D. So hilarious.

I agree-gree

Also, Ben folds' new stuff is good. Landed and Jesusland on his CD Songs for Silverman

I agree-gree, though I think the CD's got more good songs than just those two. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif"> Bastard + Gracie + Late = awesome.

I've grown addicted to a few songs by Gorillaz. Man, they've got some sweet lyrics.

Like Feel Good Inc, or 19-2000.

Cool, Jimmy Eat World did a Heatmiser cover for their EP... they didn't get the title right, but they didn't f**k up the song as much as I expected them to so props... "Half Right," they call it.

Symphony X is a band I've recently come across- insane guitar arpegios with some really good tapping and neo classical styles. Good band if your a guitarist.

The "FFVII - Advent Children" OST is a pretty damn good listen, particularly for those who are a fan of Nobou Uematsu's work. Great remixes of some Final Fantasy favourites as well as some good new tracks. Also reminds you of all the badass bits from the movie without actually sitting down to watch it again <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> Can't imagine its easy to get a hold of through legitimate channels for the time being though, what with the film only being out in Japan and all <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">

I hunted down the piano version of the fight music during the church sequence of the movie. It's called "Those Who Fight" for those interested. At first I thought its placement was kind of awkward in the movie, but then after watching it again, I feel the piano music fits the fight scene well. Anyway, it's my favorite song from the entire OST. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Dunno if you noticed (it sounds really different after all), but it's a piano remix of the standard FFVII battle music of the same name. Try searching for the midi or something from the game and you'll spot the similarities <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> There is another remix in the movie of the same track thats more of a techno/rock version, that plays during Reno and Rude's fight against Loz and Yazoo, but I prefer the piano one you mention.

Yeah, I noticed, that's actually why I like it so much. How the heck did he convert it to piano so well?! I'm tempted to import sheet music for it, to see how it was done. There's just so much going on, it almost sounds like several pianos playing at the same time - you agree?

EDIT: I have the rock / techno version, but yeah, I don't like it as much. I hear "hardcore" instrumental stuff like that all the time, it doesn't seem as special as the piano version.

I was visiting a friend and heard the London philharmonic doing Led Zeppelin songs and I nearly wet myself. I need to get ahold of it somehow.

Just got the new Coheed & Cambria album which is awesome. Been playing it non-stop in my car. Also got the new HIM album, which is OK but not as immediate as their previous one. Hopefully it will grow on me.

Reno, just noticed that 311 have slipped out a new one - have you heard it at all yet? I'll probably buy it anyway, but wouldn't hurt to have some feedback first <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">
