I'm waiting for and should receive the Judas Priest box set "Metalogy" within the next few days. Saw their concert last month, it was great.

Yeah funny you should mention them, a friend of mine gave me a CD with "Like Eating Glass" and "Pioneers" a week ago. I liked both of them.
It's funny, if you look up national statistics on audioscrobbler I think Bloc Party is the most popular artist for the UK.

If any of you use launch at yahoo to watch videos, you should check out the video. It's got this really freaky muppet like thing singing... it's worth seeing.

Hrmm, haven't updated this in a while, so yeah, 14 CDs I've gotten recently.
---
A-Ha - Analogue: Apparently this is an old-school band (ergo from the 80's), but this CD was released around a week ago so I can reasonably pretend that I'm "with it." I guess this could be described as soft pop rock, but less gay. Pretty damned good.
Air - Talkie Walkie: Really nice electronic pop. Bravo. Some very catchy songs, some aren't quite so good but there's no bad ones.
Bedouin Soundclash - Sounding A Mosaic: Umm, reggae rock? Sort of. Basically. Don't usually like reggae, but I normally like rock, and mixed with reggae it's apparently pretty good.
Bell X1 - Music In The Mouth: I was rather disappointed when I noticed these guys on one of those accursed O.C. soundtrack mixes. It seems that basically anything I think I "find" has already been found. Switches between soft and, um, non-soft rock. Wow. Apparently I listen to a lot of soft rock. I swear to you I'm straight.
Chad Van Gaalen - Infiniheart: Oh man, I don't even know. His lyrics can best be defined as pretty crazy. So basically, crazy rock. That's probably the worst review ever, but whatEVER.
Hanalei - We Are All Natural Disasters: Acoustic rock with lovely lyrics, very nice stuff. Very.
James Blunt - Back To Bedlam: More acoustic rock with even lovelier lyrics. Sweet, sweet album.
Nada Surf - The Weight Is A Gift: It's friggin' Nada Surf so it can't be bad, right? Right. Pretty danged awesome CD, can't think of any song that gets worse than decent.
Pink Martini - Hang On Little Tomato: Man, this is like orchestral music. I saw 'em on Conan, there's probably 15 people. Good tunes overall, a few originals and then some really obscure covers (you know they're obscure when they're sung in Japanese).
Schandmaul - Von Spitzbuben Und Anderen Halunken: German folk rock, which basically has more of an emphasis on rock. Pretty hard to describe, really.
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hot: Lovely swing music with lovely vocals and pretty danged lovely lyrics to boot.
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Perennial Favorites: Overall, this one's definitely better than Hot, but I'm biased since I've owned this one on cassette for years. Top notch.
The Minders - Golden Street: Uh, I don't really know how to sell this one, just good 'ol indie-pop (i.e. catchy but not retarded).
Travis - The Man Who: Another good Travis CD, 'nuff said. I don't care so much for the last song, but the rest is good.

That's weird, because those are my least favourite songs
I'm hooked on BYOB, Revenga, Violent Pornography, Radio/Video, and the other one thaqt I just forgot the name of.

Anyway -- I really like this album, and I was surprised since my sister turned me on to him and I never expected to like it. It's late night, somewhat sad, stewing music. It'll make you long for an ex-girlfriend, or help you relish a blue mood. It's not appropriate for all times, but when you're up late writing a paper and feeling sorry for yourself, its the perfect soundtrack.
If you want to check out a few songs, I would recommend:
- Turn of the Century
- Long Way Down
- Crystal Village
I almost forgot, the music is acousticy with some drums and a backup electric guitar. There's something about the melodies and the inflection in his voice that really evokes emotion. I feel like I'm walking around in a little movie when I have the music playing in my headphones.

You ever listened to Our Lady Peace before by the way? Dunno why I suddenly thought of them, as they aren't really that much like Pete Yorn by the sounds of things, but they are a great band I've a feeling you might like. Try out "Potato Girl", "Right Behind You", "Somewhere Out There" or "Clumsy" for a fairly good example of what they play.

I'll try to somehow find a way to get ahold of the other songs you recommended that I haven't heard.
As for Pete Yorn, the songs I like on the CD are the quieter / sadder ones, so I can't tell if the more upbeat ones aren't as good, or if I'm just not in the mood.
"When You See the Light" is more upbeat, but I don't like it as much as the others.
"Burrito" is edgier, with a faster beat, but again, I don't like it as much as the others.
"All at Once" is another song I like, but its somewhat sad.
"Come Back Home" sounds like it could be a radio single, and it's pretty good.
"Pass Me By" Despite the title, the guitar is fairly peppy, so you might like this.
"Committed" Is probably one of the more upbeat songs on the CD, but its just average in my opinion.
Hope that helps a bit.
Also -- have you heard of Guster? They're very chill, and I like them quite a bit.

Barenaked Ladies - Everything to Everyone... it's great. Listen to it now.
Velvet Revolver - Contraband... it's also great, and listen to it now as well.
R.E.M - The best of R.E.M... it's not as great as the previous two, but has its moments.
Ozzy Ozbourne - The Essential Ozzy Osbourne... 29 songs on 2 discs of my idol. It's awesome. Like sliced bread.
Pearl Jam - Ten... it's great.
Pearl Jam - Riot Act... it's also great.
This has been FrenchToast's indepth review.

I've just started listening to Van Halen (since listening to Beat it by Michael Jackson with Van Halens amazing solo). So many songs I recognise but never knew it was them...
On the note of Van Halen, anyone know how he died?

Oh, to clear any confusion:
Alex Van Halen : Drummer
Eddie Van Halen : Guitar/Keyboard
Michael Anthony : Bass
David Lee Roth/Sammy Hagar/Gary Cherone : 1st/2nd/3rd lead singers of the band

Been a recurring favorite for long stretches of time since my freshman year of college. there is no other CD I own that I can listen from beginning to end without a single song I don't like.
