it's funny Dr. B, i think of ac/dc as a younger band, and i'm only 18, it's probably because i grew up on 60's rock and reggae

The Black Seeds are great, been a fan for a couple of years now.
Going to see Tool tommorow night in Sydney, and again the next day as part of the Big Day Out. Should be awesome, they've been playing some awesome sets at the BDO, so they're dedicated show should be incredible.
Also looking forward to seeing Muse, Jet, Lily Allen, The Butterfly Effect, Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males, Something for Kate and a whole bunch more.
Follow all that with a 3 day long weekend. Pure goodness

I can't get ahold of any Black Seeds music over here, it's a real bitch. I've been trying to get Into the Dojo without buying it online, 'cause it's 30 bucks, which seems ridiculous.
My brother has a friend in New Zealand right now, I'm hoping he can pull through for me.

I had hip-hop group Ugly Duckling suggested to me the other day, and listened to their album "Taste the Secret". It's a rather wierd album, with most of the tracks based around a made-up fast food restaraunt called Meatshake (which serves exactly what the name suggests). Their lyrics are all light-hearted and humourous, thrown against fun, upbeat, funky tunes. I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, though am trying to look for more along this style. I think this video kinda sums them up really
Also, as a new Rip Slyme obsessive, I checked out the side project a couple of them have going - Teriyaki Boyz. They seem to be fairly "big news", as they have collaborated with the Beastie Boys, Pharrell, Kanye West, and other well known Western hip-hop names. Personally I don't think they are a patch on Rip Slyme, who are just so damn funky and fun its near impossible to dislike them, but they do have a song called Kamikaze 108 that I really enjoyed and a couple of others were pretty good.
Actually bought quite a few CDs recently, now I think about it. I finally found a copy of the Jack's Mannequin album "Everything In Transit" to buy, which I still really enjoy. It's soppy, pop-emo music, but hey, we all have our weaknesses right! I loved walking to catch the bus home to it, especially in s**tty weather. It just felt right
Along the same veins, though more punk and less emo, were a couple of Punchline albums. I don't rate either album all that highly, to be honest, but there are some decent tunes on both of them. The intro and ending songs on the new album 37 Everywhere - "Flashlight" and "Exactly" respectively - are probably my favourites. If you like throwaway pop-punk like I do, they are probably worth checking out.
Finally, I also got the album "While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets" by Cobra Starship. I'm a big fan of Gabe Saporta's previous band Midtown, so I picked this up hoping for something not too distant from them. Well, it isn't exactly Midtown-esque, but I've still enjoyed the album quite a lot. Its not particularly deep or challenging music - what did you expect from the band who did the Snakes on a Plane theme tune - but its got a fair bit of variety and nods to genres outside his usual style. No, the rest of the album isn't much like the Snakes on the Plane tune, before you ask. Basically its dance-rock. A lot lighter than his rather dark last Midtown album.

Tool was incredible, both at the 10,000 Days tour concert and the Big Day Out. The great thing was between the two concerts they did most of their best new and old stuff. Vicarious live was awesome, the crowd went absolutely nuts, and they finished both concerts with Aenema.
Also saw Muse, the Killers, Lily Allen, Kasabian, Butterfly Effect and Jet at the BDO.
I've always liked Muse, but found their last album too produced, the sound wasn't as good as their previous albums. After seeing them live I've went from liking to loving them. Muse are incredible live, and I have to say they were as good, if not better, than Tool at the BDO. When they come back out to Australia I'm definately getting tickets. They even made Starlight, a song that makes me want die everytime I hear it, sound awesome, I couldn't believe it.
The Killers were pretty good, not really my scene, but I enjoyed it.
Lily Allen was fantastic, a great live show with a real band which was pretty cool. The only complaint wasn't with her performance but with whoever was at the sound board. Everytime a song went into a loud bit, and for most of Lily's vocals, there was a bunch of distortion. Besides that it was great.
Kasabian I kinda stumbled across while trying to put as much distance between me and the John Butler Trio as possible. Nothing incredible, but a good sound and performance made them definately worth while.
Butterfly Effect were okay, but their live performance and sound wasn't as good as the CD, which was a bit of a disappointment. Solid but not awesome.
Jet were great, they always put on a great live show and they manage to achieve the same quality live as they have on their albums. Just some good rocking out.

Their new album Shine On has been out for a few months now at least. It's about as good as the last one, so no disappointments.

Got the new Fall Out Boy album, "Infinity On High", yesterday. I'm a fan of their previous work and that doesn't change with this release - this is ultra-polished pop-punk, so if you're into that kinda stuff, you can't really go wrong in buying this album. It does have a few let downs on it; "Golden" is a boring ballad that doesn't suit the band, and "The (After) Life of the Party", while not all that bad, again sounds like them trying unsuccessfully for a new sound. On the other hand, tracks like "You're Crashing, But You're No Wave" and "Hum Hallelujah" are as hopelessly catchy and fun as any else they've come up with over the years, which is a trait shared by the majority of songs on the album. So yeah, if you like pop-punk go buy it, and if not, there's nothing new to see here.

Kataklysm - In the Arms of Devastation
I discovered Kataklysm a couple months ago through pandora.com. While they're a little dark for my usual taste, these guys are a really talented metal band. Some really awesome riffs on this album, the drummer is awesome, and the tracks are composed well; all the instruments compliment each other well.
Megadeth - Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good; Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?;
Oldschool awesome.
Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction
Every track on this album is a prime example of how to rock.
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Is it possible the members of Pantera were born to do anything but rock?
No.
