Is it just me?

I look around at the world.  I see wireframes of the walls, doors, and items.  I see trigger brushes in front of the automated doors at the food store.  I see multimanagers at work when I turn on my computer.  light_environment outside and light_spot on the front of my car.  I wonder how high the r speeds are in my house.  I see the face spliting comming from the legs of my furniture.  I see a env_fade when I wake up in the morning, a env_shake when the earth trembles.  Path_corners when I take the elevator or the bus.

/me must be crazy.

Texture artists get those wierd subliminal things too.

 - You can see fake marble from a mile away.

 - Anything that repeats looks amazingly ugly.

 - You start seeing the transparent blue on a line of trees (only when you make yourself, though)

 - You take your digital camera around like it's your baby.

 - Kentucky starts looking very, very ugly, and Hawaii is God's land. (Probably just me.)

 - You wish you had more rusted/oxodized/urban stuff around where you lived so you could take reference pictures.

 - You start to see the world in the style of your texturing (happens to me, what that means is up to you)

 - Suddenly, half of the games on the market look terrible.

i was genuinely appalled at the blatant errors in JK and JK2, not to mention quite a few other games released since HL in 98..

more from a mapping standpoint than a texture one, but i know exactly how you feel..

about the only new game i was surprised about "looking" great was U2... the maps were awesome.. the textures were excellently incorporated as well...

if you can overlook the simplicity of the objectives, and the relatively short duration of its play, U2 has some interesting maps..

I wonder what the coders and the modelers see.  Lines of codes for the former and polys on their friends for the ladder perhaps.

3 years of mapping, makes you look at reality in a way different perspective. Anytime I see something for the first time, I think how I can put that into a game. You can get mapping inspiration from anything almost.

Why do you always have to add that in?

Thats pretty weird- just today I was trying to figgure out how I would go about quantifying the sandwich I was eating into a class hierarchy. I started with the bread, and wondered if I should start with the Toast as an object, or the bread itself as an object that had properties of Toast, or break it down into grains, eggs, butter, etc. Would you then break those down into various other components (Lettuce, cheese, ham, vinegar, oil)?

Stupid object oriented languages :/ [addsig]

bread.enabled:=true;

procedure toast;
begin
     bread.insert.into.toaster;
     toastertimer.set.30seconds;
     run;
end;

Everyone masturbate, stop lying to yourself. If they don't, they're "weird."

Whatever gives you inspiration, whatever works.

actually, and this kinda retracts from the joke..

i was thinking of the "peeing" process, and the relationship of old genitalia and the pisa structure's orientation to horizontal

masterbation being inspirational to mapping.... oh yeah i see, both are short lived projects
