1) Internet Explorer hangs- it does that sometimes, and I forgive it.
2) I decide to send in the technical report as it may make the world just a bit more of a better place, and am given a link to follow
3) Said link recommends I download the IE6 service pack
4) The same person, me, downloads the installer and chooses the 'Windows 2000/Windows XP install' and lets it download away
5) Said installer, after downloading roughly 10mb of files, tells me "The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify it's compatibility with Windows XP. This software will not be installed."
6) The installation then finishes, and I am forced to restart my PC (of course, the installer says to close all open programs and doesn't mention it's going to restart)
7) WinXP boots up again, and I'm faced with a new prompt asking me if I want to continue with a failed installation. I click yes.
8) The re-installer-thingy decides I'm not connected to the internet, even though it's a pseudo-always-on broadband connection, and decides to restart my PC, this time without a prompt. Even though it hasn't done anything.
9) Google saves me and tells me what to do. Although now pop-up windows don't work anymore (they stay blank)
This is the funniest thing that's ever happened to me PC-wise since I got one of those 'this page cannot be trusted' messages on the MS Support website... anyone got any similar tales?
