I have been stuck at my dads all day, his connection is 56k, but it only connects at 2.4..

needless to say, snarkpit is NOT 56K FRIENDLY after all

you guys, i want you to know, i will be riding the XAT.COM superhighway even more vigorously to assist you in the screens people are posting..

it has been a bad day all around.. no not cause of the pit.. 2.4 sucks on all sites..

i feel for you guys, who come here daily and deal with it.. i miss my 1.5 DSL

Try turning images off and try to navigate like that. Your avatar would take almost 4 seconds to load... poor guy.

Snarkpit images on or off is still pretty much against us minorities. Even at work, (got god knows what kinda specs govt puters, its still funky.)

I'm mixed up in the dial-up shenanigans, so I run the forums using the condensed view. No avatars or sigs, but it's otherwise pretty rocking. Lep set the thing up pretty well.

for the most part, its the users.. but i am so glad i don't live here 2.4 is horrible, even by 56k standards..

he lives way out, the servers only guarantee 2.4. tis a good thing, cause thats all he's getting

I use condensed view as well. Also the firefox cache seems better than the IE one, which helps a lot when on modem. Snarkpit is a lot better than most sites for 56K, most sites have pointless flash animations everywhere and huge banner or background images...

case in point, kage posted a tiny screenshot of the steam image.. it was 2 inches by 3 inches and no where near optimized.. it was 67k for christ sakes.took ma almost 15 seconds to load. 10k would have been oversized..

no one optimizes anymore cause of broadband

A few weeks ago I got broadband. But before that I did my best to stand 56k and god, it was annoying sometimes. Hell, I hate 56k. It disconnected and stuff. 56k is pure evil.
