a few odd pics i took.. digicrap

i think, we all whom have digi-cameras should upload some pics.. if 5 out or 100 are good enuff, then all we have wasted is a few minutes.. which we use anyways while here

btw orph, I may use 4 of the textures in there at some point. Hope you dont mind.

all those shots are public domain bud... you can use anything you wish..

grimlock enlightened me on angles of shots so i will definitely bare it in mind when i post more..

the way i see it, if only 1% of everything we post gets used, at the end of a very short time, we could end up with quite a wad file ( or whatever HL2 uses as format )

my camera is a cheapy (640x480 max res) but with the guru's we have here, something i take might be of use..

i have a s**tload of construction currently in progress right out my front door, and 2 train yards within walking distance, not to mention i live in an industrial/farming zone..

those plants with the deep green leaves, are soy beans.. and i can get more straight angle shots if anyone would like them..

i suggest we all take some real-life shots and see if we can accumulate some HL2 worthy stuff

one more time, if you need a good paint program to help with this.. PM me

I just took over 100 1600 X 1200 pictures in an old abandoned Naval hospital in Alameda.   I'd say half are crap for various reasons but that still leaves 50% that might work well as textures.   My camera tends to blur under low lighting situations, I found that out the hard way today.

I still belive constructing your own textures is better, photos however work for 2 purposes 1) potential texture 2) reference material.

I have a lot of things to do tonight but if I have time I'll post some of the pictures I took in the hospital otherwise I'll post them next week when I get back from L.A.

Basicly the only way to get clear photos in dim light is to use a tripod. the long shutter speed required to acheive the requsite cumulitive intensity on the CCD sensor is always going to blur your shots if the camera is hand held.

i concur i guess, i have found that the pulse in you hand will be more than enuff to blur a dim light shot if not braced properly.. my camera is cheap, but it will take a good picture in an almost dark room.. as far as it goes, it is a very nice camera, about the size of a normal deck of cards, and considering its almost 3 years old, it was fairly advanced back then..

it also doubles as a webcam via usb port
