Making Friends

Lesson 1: Polite Conversation

Hello, I am Vash and I will be your guide to the wonderful world outside your door! I know you are shocked right now, "There is land and a functioning society away from the confines of my own abode?" - the answer is an astounding yes! Outside of your comfortable home live odd creatures we call "Humans". Why, you yourself are one of those primitive "Humans"! And one of the things these humans do is interact with each other! Usually they will start a conversation with another one of their species in a hope to gain their friendship, and maybe even access to their pants! Let us discuss a few POLITE ways to start a conversation by examplifying the right and wrong ways to speak!

Right: Hello, that is a nice dress you have on!

WRONG: Hey baby, take that dress off and shake 'em!

This is typically a mistake made by the male humans, as they have a tendency to think with their pants! Let us take another look at POLITE conversation!

Right: Nice weather, isn't it?

WRONG: Nice weather, we should reproduce.

These are just a few examples of polite conversation! Tune in next time when I teach you how to spot a human! Until next time, this is Vash - your teacher to the outside world!

Since i consider it a joke to move to anyplace in kansas, i suppose this is a good place to type one i heard on the CB radio this run..

A man walks up to the druggist and asks "Which isle has the tampons?"
Druggist: "isle #5 sir"
Man: "Thanx" and disappears down isle #5

*five minutes later, man places bag of cotton balls and spool of thread on counter*

Druggist: "Sir, you couldn't find the tampons?"
Man: "sure did but, yesterday I sent the wife to the store for a pack of cigarettes, she came home with a bag of tobacco and some rolling papers.. I figure if i have to roll my own, so can she."

I think moving to a new place is a good experience. I've done it twice, to new places, without knowing a single soul. The first time I weren't very lucky, couldn't make a single friend and that was quite boring. The second time I had better luck.

So, I guess all you can do is be yourself and try to be open to others and try to make friends. Talk to others and don't just stand quite in a corner (that's basically what I did). Try to stay in thouch with your old mate via the internet or telephone or something so that you don't just "lose him". He can still help you with mapping etc . Over time you'll probably see what the others like, perhaps there's someone sharing your interest. Anyways, I think it's a good experience to move to a new place and I'm sure you'll benefit from this in the future.

I wish you the best of luck

Yeah, I know, I just wanted to be annoying. Missouri side is really the only side anyone cares about, though. [addsig]

Thanks for the help guys. By the way I'm moving from Bellingham Washington.

Dude, (no pun intended) That sucks. Bellingham is paradise on earth as far as cities go. You're moving form an area with the highest concentration of glacial ice in the US, to Podunk corn-vill! Sorry, I don't mean to be depressing.

As far as your question, I don't have any real advice. Just be friendly and I'm sure things will workout.

I don't really care about what the place looks like becouse I'm on the computer almost all the time so I dosent really matter. I personally hate all the wetness of washington, it's always raining, it's almost always gray and cloudy so I dont care.

P.S You guys think that "corn" is all that is in Kansas, that stuff is only in the country. In the city it's fine, just like any other city. Friends are all that bother me.

I LIKE CORN
