A mod without a story will not attract a lot of mappers/skinners ..

its "urban" force, killer lawn mowers, garden hoses from hell, and the occasional mined flower bed

We (your adoring public) know next to nothing about this mod. And your website doesn't help much either. Basic information, like single-player or multi-player, isn't even there. All I see are a few unskinned model renders and some news posts. Please put more information up so people can make a decision to join or not.

And please respect our forum members more in the future. You are the ones who are coming and asking for help, not us. Thanks.

Man - what the hell us up with people in this forum? When I registered I missed the part where it asked if you were an elitist ass-hole. If you want to join a mod team, email us for details. If you don't, ignore us. It's that simple.

I am not trying to be a prick or anything and I will be the first to admit that I am not the most talented person. But I have been on the modding forums for over 5 years and I know what kind of jerks and smart asses post replies.

I dont really care if I piss anyone off... We are looking for people who are serious. So if you are serious then you can email us and we will discuss the mod in private. We are not ready to publicly tell everyone our ideas just to get them ripped off.

DigiChaos: If you've been around the modding block, you would have noticed that very few mods actually get completed, and of those that are completed, very few are actually good.

There's a lot of talent here, and with the right attitude, you'll easily get people to work for you. Please, don't expect people to jump at the chance of working for a mod. Most people here have already seen the fate of mods that start of with enthusiasm, but dont get too far. I'm not saying this will happen to your mod, but lots of folks want more data of what exactly is happening before they are willing to commit.

Take this as you will, but I intended it as just a bit of advice. Your ideas usually won't get ripped off by anyone, so at the very least you need to give people a storyline.

What we have now is very little. You have model renders, and a general Urban Conflict setting. But people need more details. Is it single player, multi player, or both? Is it team based or deathmatch style? Does it have something unique? What, exactly, is unique? Do you have a clear plan of development for the mod? How big do you expect this will be? When do you realistically plan to complete?

Please, most smart asses who post have a valid reason for being smartasses, and the actual smartasses havent even started posting yet.

And we're not trying to be a prick collectively, either. It's just that we get quite a few people who flit in here and post things asking people to join mods, and it's really quite hard to determine if you want to work on a mod without recieving ANY information on what the mod actually entails.

However, if you were to first post something along those lines (the bit where you say we can get information if we email you) earlier, then things would have been more kosher.

Plus, Orpheus's post was something that you may not know about- it's a tiny little thing called "humor." No, I don't find it to be funny, either. But give the guy a break. This is a public forum. As they say, water off your back, man. Let that little thing slide. Don't retort with some comments saying that he's a smart-ass and that we're all elitist bastards.

Yeesh. [addsig]

These threads always end up like this

Out of curiosity, on your site you say "past works: CS_Italy mapping" - by this do you mean you made cs_italy, or something else?

Yes we made cs_italy. And to reiterate, if you are interested in joining a mod team, email us for details. We have zero on our web site at this point and for good reason. [addsig]

Sorry I was away.

So you guys created cs_italy... do you think you could have made it any more slanted towards the terrorists? I mean sheesh, three good autosnipers can hold down all three paths and the CT's are screwed unless they get some lucky shots off or enough people take bullets to force them to reload. I hate that map so much (except for the close combat fighting in the middle path though the house, that's just sweet)

If I had a great idea for a mod and someone 'stole' it and made a great mod, then I'd be happy I'd have a great mod to play without doing any work. Good luck with the mod, and your attitude problems guys!

glenc,DigiChaos

sadly, this all started from a joke. is it really us? i wonder.

i read through all the replies, i am proud of the camaraderie, but sad that it was necessary as well. perhaps we should add a line or two on the membership pages about our mods, or rather our mods history, and new members part in them.

newguys, shut up for a couple days, read a few dozen threads, get to know us, then return with an attitude befitting snarkpit, and the members you may want to recruit. we are not elitist, and i would be the first to drum one out of here if i noticed them, but on the same note, we do not like narrow minded asswipes either whom think their idea is somehow original, or worse, the first to show up with it.

with the talent around you, do you think for a second you could come up with an original concept when "urban" is the theme????

on the plus side, we have seen a couple mods work out, yours may as well but quite honestly i do not.. you cannot even manage the recruiting stages which are admittedly the easiest to handle.. coordinating a team through the stages of a mod will truly strain your patience.

one last note, i can survive your ridicule far better, than you can survive the collective snarkpits. PLEASE rethink your attitudes, you are in our home.

for what its worth, welcome to the snarkpit.

Oh the hypocrisy

My apologies glenc, forum trollism is a hard thing to beat, though there's no need for you to aggravate it either. Guys, please stop with the Mightier-Than-Thou attitude towards these mods (well, unless it's obviously some 12 year old kid who wants to make something utterly ridiculous!)

I thought this particular one went through without any trolling at all :/. That said, ReNo and Orph make a nice "good cop, bad cop" combination
