Here are some pics provided by Ginger Lord on 69th Vlatitude. You may know Ginger Lord by his famous dod_density map. He is now working on the DoD:S version of density. The textures looked smeared because high res materials have not been made available yet and the maps were made using CS:S.

#4 is borked bud.

nice architecture, but i have always been iffy on spotlessly clean rock walls

also, some of those screens look fullbright.

This isn't official DoD:S stuff...density is still a custom map. I've only head that it might possibly become official. As it stands it's just as DoD:S as the maps I've been porting.

It looks okay... if it was for the HL engine. But as it stands I'm very unimpressed with it. Even with all the freedom the source engine gives with detail and realism and people are still making maps like its HL and they've got to watch out for r_speeds (which you still do of course, but I think it would be hard to get to the new limit).

Obvioulsy its still in prouction, hopefully he'll at least do some decent texturing and add some sought of detail, but from these screens I'm pretty disappointed.

The new enfield model looks pretty sweet though .

It's overwhelming. Too much cobblestone, not enough light variation to set the mood. The rubble spots seemed too jagged. Mainly just feels to busy, texturewise. I'm sure it's a WIP, however.

I am going to agree with Agent Smith, its looking all 1998 up in that map. Hopefully all those images are from a straight-port, and ginger has just begun revamping the map to the splended power of the Source engine.

I think everyone is still trying to get a feel for the new editor right now. It will take a while before we start to see really really good maps. Everyone is afraid of pushing the r-speeds on the new editor but there is no need for worry. I'd like to see people start to push the editor. DoD and NS both pushed the Half Life engine far and still got good r-speeds on the maps.

Ive never been a big fan of DOD, but then again neither was I in CS and look at me now im a regular on aztec.

I wonder if there will be NS or TS on source? Maybe we should create a snark mod for source?

DoD is probably my favourite mod for HL and my flatmates are huge fans. Due to this, the whole flat has been really looking forward to the mod. I hope the official maps are a much bigger improvement over the originals than this is though, as it really isn't impressing me much.

For god's sake...GingerLord already had to lock his thread on the DoD board because nobody reads anything these days. That map is essentially exactly as it was on HL...he spent enough time to convert the entities to CS:S That's ALL...which is why it looks like it's DoD because it IS. There have been no changes in architecture or texture...it's exactly HL just running on the Source engine.

I'm sure I would have gotten that information if I'd read his original post or whatever. I was merely commenting on the images posted by spartan. As they are my assessment is fair enough. Even so I don't think I'd be putting those shots up just yet until there was even a partial example of the finished product, as they seem to make everyone cringe.

This seems to be another hastily released image relating to dod source that has got everyone worried. Those screens from the remake of Anzio, yes, also unfinished, still made it look no better than the old HL engine.

I've always been a big WW2 freak and I must say, I can't wait to try this. I liked DoD. But it was still missing things. From what I've read this could turn out to be a very interesting game.

The screenies look awesome too ;o~

Thanks Gorbachev. I guess I didn't yell loud enough for everyone to hear me say that all the textures were directly converted from DoD. You all should try not reading between the lines.
