I got the same line of trash, have you noticed ALL hl2 or source engine programs do that? [addsig]

I played it. My choke on all servers was so high (120+) that I couldn't really enjoy it. Hell, I couldn't aim at anything, everyone was teleporting around so much because of packet loss.

From what I saw, it was pure chaos. IT was fun...should be interesting to watch unfold.

Jesus H CHRIST, this game is fun! Why the hell did they think CS:S was a better choice? I couldn't give a crap if my ping is high, it's so much fun to kill people with the manipulator! Hitting someone n the head ith filing cabinet, and watch do a flip over the back of themselves off a building, is pure utter genius!

Now if only they could somehow make sure my ping doesn't skyrocket.

I played it with a couple of my flatmates on the LAN, and its great fun but I think its too gimmicky. Lag was also really prominent even on such a small LAN server. The physics are cool and novel - my flat mate built a huge barricade of stuff in the second stairwell on overwatch (is that the right name? the city one) and I managed to ram a car in as well - took ages for anyone to mount an assault on the top floor cos of it I think that giving the player the gravity gun from the off is a bad move though, you can easily get by without bothering to look for guns.

pings, on most servers i only pinged like 30 , but some when up to 200 , and that sucks a bit, i think they'll fix it a bit though

game is soo cool


are there only 2 maps though??

KICKASS. Too bad i have satellite internet and son't be able to play games EVER!!! (sattie uses burst speed technology which doesnt work with real-time environments like games or streaming media.) I will have to pay for another copy of HL2 now so i can put it on my laptop and bring it to work...

I was waiting for a lot of stuff in the SDK too, The main thing i wanted was for it to WORK properly. too bad for me i guess.

Can't you just install it with the same steam account? Seeing as noone at home is gonna be using the account at the same time, and both computers are yours, I don't see why you should need to buy a second copy. Even if you bought through steam, you can use the backup files option.

I'm pretty sure that would be OK. When you logon to your steam account on another computer it automatically downloads games you have, so it should work with HL2.

That's half the point of Steam - portability. I have my account at home and at work, though I rarely use the work copy... usually just to take notes on things to/not to do. [addsig]

Well, i can't really see how they could make sure it was the same computer. They can't use the IP because anyone with a dynamic IP or anyone who switched ISP's would be screwed.

Though I am not an expert, I think if someone gets a hold of your steam account they are able to use it however they like, so long as two people don't try to sign on at the same time, or use a steam hack.

though (unconfirmed) i did hear about something in the hl2 eula that says you can only have hl2 installed on one pc... i would look for something about that first, unless someone can disprove this?
