I think maybe you are reading too much into the relative lack of diversity. after all, whites are the majority race in english speaking countries. this has been a very small population sample, and therefore statisticaly unfavorable for showing diversity.

as for the gender thing, how many women do you know who play halflife, let alone map? in my experience, even gals who enjoy video games don't go for bloody shooters. they are more apt to enjoy RTS, RPG, and adventure style gameplay.

totaly off topic:

Don't post editing questions here, or else we'll kill you. No, really.

 I just noticed this

for instance.. privacy aside... judging from the present pics posted, am i to take it that half-life is a Caucasian game only? yeah it really is unimportant, and i truly believe that, but it makes you wonder, are only white people comfortable posting pics of themselves.. true, any one of us could post fictitious images, but still why all of the same race and gender for that matter .. :/

*cough*. I'm Asian, Orph. Of course you can't tell from my picture, but I made the unfortunate mistake of telling people my real name, in which case, you can easily tell.

Don't be afraid though. I don't have any of that "AzN PrYde" crap you see floating around in CS or whatnot.

bud, if you could name a race, that isn't someplace within my family i would kiss your butt on broadway..

i am prolly the one person you will ever meet, who never thinks about race first, or second, or at all for that matter when it comes to individuality..

as strange as that may sound, considering my narrow views on sexual orientation, i have always been of a mind, that racism is a self defeating outlook that never wins..

bottomline, you may retain your privacy, but you can always feel comfortable that, i for one couldn't care less what race you are, its whats on the inside that counts.. if you are cool, you are cool, if you are.. uncool, well you can guess

You've it it right there Orph. even if there werent a plethora of other reasons, this one is enough to render  racisim completly pointless, especialy in America. I couldn't tell you much of anything about my ancestory if my life depended on it. we are all mutts to one degree or another.

not that I'm trying to boast or anything.  I'm the one in the glider.  It's the most recent picture taken of me.  The last as taken almost 3 years before.

Ok, now to make fun of everyone (as of course that is the point)

Orph - you look like a drugged out guy about to be wheeled into kidney surgery

Gollum - why are you climbing around inside someone's small intestine?

Tracer Bullet - sorry, no witty comments, that's too close to what I wish my biochemistry courses actually were like

Juim - apparentally you need to see yourself all the time so you carry a picture of yourself around attached to your shirt

Campaignjunkie - who are you, Barbra Streisand?

Grimlock - I would think there's a better place for your studio than in the middle of a forest

Crackerjack - Dude, where's my camera?

Gorb - I'd make fun of you, but I can't stop laughing at the incredibly jetlagged guy in front of you.

Gimp - your nephew appears to be the spawn of satan, or at least some sort of feral hell creature

Lep - Wow, I didn't realize your condition was so bad your head has slid down to being horizontal. Must be tough walking.

Monqui - I really expected no less

Wildcard - I hope you wake up before take off...

CCS - Who told you you could be a pirate anyway?

Terrible picture of me from about a week ago, three in the morning, trying to impress a girl. Of course, I will never be hitting on you fellas, so don't worry about that beautiful expression on my face.

PS Lep, you're a haaandsome devil.

[EDIT] Looking at this picture, I see that it looks like I've got tits, huge time... However, I weigh 140 pounds, so that's somewhat impossible.

Cassius, I had always figured you were a bitter old man and not an angsty hormone driven teenager And, er, thanks for saying you won't hit on us. Gaydar was making some alarm sounds just then...

Oh god photos. Alas I am the least photogenic person ever and most pics of me tend to get taken when I am.. er somewhat the worse for wear. Still here ya go:

Apologies for size and whatnot, I just nabbed it from a similar thread over in the TS forums. Thats my room in Uni, taken about a week or two ago and hence minus my lovely new mouse. I'm 21 BTW and am fully aware I don't look it.

i do not intend this as mean as it sounds, but the answer is, ditch the webcam.. of all the pics i have seen taken with them, its a common issue..

i use my digi-camera, which doubles as a webcam, and the shots are at least as clear as the images i posted in the other thread, about the textures..

the main issue, at least the way i understand it is, the low light and the fact that it is flickering at 120 times a second, royally screws with the conventional webcam.. plus the fact that most webcams optimize the images to shoot them over the net as easily as possible.. they don't do a very good job BTW..

anyways, theres my 2 cents.. take it or leave it
