I am trying to make a swamp like section of my map, but not successfully.

I tried to make a layer of water and raise the ground up through it and carve it, but it doesn't work.

Any tips?

first of, NEVER carve, it's a evil tool that will give you hell

ok, now what you want to do it make a landscap first, with lots of humps and bumps, then make a water brus on on the botom of the ground so only the bumps are sticking out of it, you can see a good example in a map on this site called Myrk- made by Myrk- , he had got the whole swamp thing pretty wired
