OK, how about we stop caring about looks. We do a fully CGI movie, a la final fantasy. We get the original voices for NPCs, find some B-grade to voice Gordon. We can make this work people.

But if it must be live action... Walken would make an OK gman, hed need thicker eyebrows of course. Jeremy Irons would do a good gman I suppose, and is probably more affordable... but on the question of Gordon... who knows.

Wil5on do you just copy and paste from one forum to another?

Actually, the voice actor for Eli Vance could pull off the part rather well, his name is Robert Guillaume. [addsig]

Oh dear lord. Did someone really call Kevin Costner cool? I hope that was sarcasm...

I don't think Charlie Sheen would make a good Freeman because a) I don't really think he looks much like the picture on my HL2 box, and b) I think he learnt his acting off the back of a cereal packet.

Ed Norton would probably do a good job although he still doesn't quite have the same look as Freeman.. To be honest I don't think there are many people who could pull off those humoungous glasses well.

Did anyone else notice "Dr. Carmack" will be in the Doom movie?

Dragonfly was horrible. It had me going up until the whole Africa bit. But when Africa hit, it took a massive turn for the worse.

I had pretty much given up on him before, and I've never even thought about seeing anything else he was in since. [addsig]

Ok, I haven't looked at this thread much, but I totally agree with this When you meet Eli in his lab for the first time, the first person that came to mind was Bill Cosby.

Kids say the darndest things!

Oh and on the subject of the Doom movie, I wanted one to be made, I dunno if it'll be any good, though... I think they got the casting right though. I think The Rock could play Sarge quite well actually, and Karl Urban is a good choice for the Doom Guy. I heard some stuff that it wouldn't involve demons or hell or anything. I don't know if this is true but I don't care one bit! As long as it retains the scare factor and suspense and stuff (and doesn't turn out like the Resident Evil movies), I think it'll actually be quite good.

crono, if you haven't noticed, your positions on movies is not paramount (no pun intended) .

if you were to tally the times you liked a movie that someone else did, you might be up to 5 or 10.

You have to look at all aspects though. I've talked about several movies I liked which I also said were terrible movies. But overall what most people have listed in this thread is type cast up the ass (I did that a little bit with CW). I mean seriously. f**k Morgan Freeman, he really isn't that great of an actor. He's good at playing the same character he ALWAYS plays. And he's good at that character, it doesn't mean he's a good actor. The best bet would probably be Robert Guillaume, as monqui suggested. Have no idea what his acting ability is, but it's far above most actors. You can tell just from his voice acting.

And Orph, you like the s**ttiest movies ever Species 3 ?Goddammit.

/me is pokin fun bud, i personally though all the species films were crap incarnate, but of the 3 films, III was the better.. it at least ended with the new gene splices walking off hand in hand.

consider it my view of, the least worse of the 3 only.

If I were in charge of the movie I'd use actors who noone knows, or are relatively unknown. People become too focused on the actors these days and not the character, even if it's a good performance it's still "the actor". Although, everyone knows Christopher Walken should be the G-Man, now that would earn my money.

you know, i am surprised that some dummy didn't suggest Ben Stiller for the Barney part.

god how i despise that guy.. i still cannot grasp how anyone can classify him "actor"

I know.

Gorb, I agree, it should be unknowns mostly. But, I honestly think Edward Norton would be good at Gordon, not because it's him playing the part, but because he's a convincing and natural actor. I'm not really going off of looks either, since anyone (as long as they can act the part) can pull off the look. I just mentioned 25th hour and such to show that he can look the part as well.

Oh and, Christopher Walken is pretty frail as it is.

There is nothing wrong with Ben Stiller, Orph. You seem to have some weird fixation on hating him with little evidence.

OK, are you suggestion that in order for me to brand him incompetent that i either have to have a working knowledge of acting, or know Mr. stiller personally?

afterall, i have see just about every film he has made, and as such, i was under the impression that, that was all it took to voice an opinion on a movie, since you set the standards on opinionated expression of movie quality. i was also under the impression that you have only "viewed" movies as well, i did not catch the part where you took direction lessons 101

other than watching his movies what else do i need to to qualify a well versed opinion of his abilities?

bottomline, he stinks.. he is riding the wave that his mom and dad laid down for him. i am not saying that they are world class actors either, but they do very well within their character classes.. they do mom and pop films very well indeed.

please explain how i can gain enough esteem to know his place in the acting world.

An' what've you got against Malcolm? He plays hate-able charaters so well, and you GOTTA hate that bastard Breen. Although breen in the game looks very clean and tidy with less of a receding hairline. And taller and thinner too, but you can't always get EXACT look-alikes

you've got a point. The actors don't have to be COMPLETE unknowns, I loved the casting for LOTR. I know LOADS of ppl who didn't even KNOW about Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Sean Bean, or Christopher Lee. They all are GREAT actors, but most ppl forgot about Sean Astin after Goonies We have seen neither hide nor hair of Elijah since Radio Flyer or The Good Son, All of the other actors never really play the MAIN parts but are brilliant all the same. AND i don't think that Christopher walken can be creepy enough for the G-man role. He is too loud and jerky to be the hissing, soft-talking, smirking G-man.
