Like a program that takes what you see on the screen from time a to time b and makes it into a video. I dunno of any good ones. You might want to try camtasia if its still around, i remember using it back some time ago.

omg, hmm - newbies.

A screencam is a program that creates a ' video ' of what is currently happening on the screen. You can use this to record games, windows, etc. The problem is, that most screencams use direct x - I f**king HOPE you know what that is, and because they use direct x - it makes games extremely laggy ( a also, hopefully you'll know that games use direct x too ). And, so, therefore, and etc, I need a screencam that is compatible with games --- tis why I posted.

Oh, and the attempted lame joke about the screenshots, grow up.

Also, I know you can record f**king demos --- I have at least a little computing knowledge... newbies.

xconspirisist, Youve obviously been playing too much cs. Tone down your attitude. That was uncalled for. You cant tell anyone to grow up & spurt out with comments about people being newbies because theyve not heard of an obscure video making program to whih you didnt explain. [addsig]

1) yes i know what direct x is

2) jokes dont always have to be taken as an attack.

3) if your looking to port some footage from HL or any mod of HL, then videomach is what you want.

4) ill grow up when you learn how!!!

Oh dear oh dear.. arrogance, immaturity and elitism rolled into one ugly ball of youthful rage.

A) I'd say it's pretty representative of the game playing masses awareness of the term "screencam" when most of the people here hadn't heard of it.

B) "Newbies" ? Get over yourself already, this kind of arrogant behaviour shows yourself up as the stupid unlearned one - or "newbie", if you prefer in the online tech communities.

Just because you have suddenly learnt a lot about computers/computer games it doesn't make you a God. So dont try and act like the be all and end all of knowledge and wisdom, it will only blow up in your face.

Many people here have been using DirectX whilst you were still eating school dinners and have a lot more knowledge than you do. Perhaps if you couple it with common sense and intelligence you would excel beyond being a troll and a nuisance.

[edit] (addition)

Harsh words, but sometimes a short sharp shock will induce some kind of new frame of mind into people. I hope this is one of those occasions, xconspirisist, because I see your flaws in posting are rarer than ever.. so lets work to eliminate them altogether?

The hints in the question were in the fact that people who knew what a 'screencam' would be in a position to know which would be good, and the sentence "Im looking for one primarily for grand theft auto" gave the hint he doesn't want a Half-Life video recorder. So, er, yeah
