I love Counter-Strike, but I find myself playing it a LOT less since a few days after HL2's release. There are many, many, many more idiots, to put it bluntly. I don't really mind the noobs too much, but I hate joining a server just to be killed at spawn by a team mate. There are also tons more hackers, it really ruins the game. I mean, they don't even try to hide it, I sit there and watch people look at/through walls then kill half the opposing team, or I get killed at spawn by some speed hacking ass hat before taking five steps. I've also been killed with one shot from the mp5 at full health, not a head shot. This is a sad time for Counter-Strike...

/edit
And then there are the noob maps on every other server, that's really annoying.

Its just like beta CS to retail CS, or CS 1.3 or CS 1.6 When ever there is a transition where there are huge weaknesses in the hack security or the game is easy to get there will be an influx of hackers and ass hats. I remeber 1.3 there were so many hackers that peolpe would be using aim bot and bitch about some one using a no walls hack. After 1.6 and steam came out there where more 12 year old e-punks then there were fish in the sea. It will even out, people will start getting in big trouble with hacks. When VALVE introduced that 1 year IP ban on hackers I started seeing people dissapear from servers I regulared on.

have no fear! and dont hack

There is no VAC for any Source games yet. Its really starting to annoy me and probably a lot more people who are even semi-serious CS players. Like I said, it's a sad time for CS, and I hope something happens that stops it, soon.

I will laugh heartily when Valve get their fingers out of their asses, get VAC sorted for CS:S and large numbers of people lose their Steam accounts.

Hear my pre-emptive laugh. Muahahahaha.

As a side note, don't be on the same side as Gwil in a CS game... his tactics are crap.

S'all lies. My lone deaglage runs save the day all the time!

Arf at CS 1.3, not wanting to sound a prude and an elitist but this games prime time was 5.2 (beta!).. when the P90 was UBER WEAPON SUPREME. As some people may call it.

mansion, tire, nuke, prodigy, jail, dust, militia

those were the days

It's not a sad time for counter strike! CS still is the same fun game as always. Its just that CS:source is terrible. The solution - dont play it! You've lived with the crappy HL graphics for years now, you should be used to them. I refuse to play CS:S until they make it so that you don't bounce off oil drums.

Source is terrible? Are you on glue?

I prefer it to the original in every way.

You know what you do when there are hackers in a game of CSS? You stop bitching, whining, telling the hacker he's a bad player and ruining the game or whatever, pull out your weapon of choice, and splatter him all over the walls. It's not very difficult at all, even if he's a speedhacker. Laugh at your superiority.

For an asshole, you do the same thing. Pick a fight with him. Once he starts opening his mouth, gun him down every time. If you come across a crowd, shoot him first. Use a shotgun and get in his face. Shoot his body after he's dead. Make him remember your name, and shove your dominance down his throat round after round. It's fun!

People need to stop whining and take matters into their own hands. There's a reason you get guns in the game...

Word.

Just own any one who gets in your way. If you think the hacking is bad in CS:S you have no idea. Hacking is everywhere.

I have no doubt in my mind that well over half of all CS 1.6 players use some kind of hack or cheat. You only see the hacking becuase its mixed with noobs. You'll think hacking is going down, but it will only become less apperant becuase people will lern how to use the hacks.

We cant win, get over it. Its kind of the trade off, Valve gives us all this power with the SDK and inturn opens the doors for hackers.

True, true, but Source was so much more awesome and fun before all the losers came aboard. I guess I was exaggerating when I said this was a sad time for CS, its just a slightly more annoying time than usual. Now that I think about it, its always been noobs, hackers, TKers, and bad maps, its just worse than usual because its a new version and everybody's all excited. Counter-Strike wouldn't be the same if it wasn't that way, spraying jackasses' bodies with bitchin custom sprays and then squatting over them repeatedly is just a part of the game. At least for me it is....

That's why I only normally play with the same group of people. We all get along rather well, and know each other well enough to know that no-one in that group is hacking. I just hop in, have a good time, and call it a day. [addsig]

I wished I could have played the beta ages of C-S. I was only exposed to the 1.5, which was truly the last of the "real counter-strike". Valve should have ported it 1.5 = l337 [addsig]

If you started at 1.5, what exactly would you know of the 'real counterstrike'? As it stands the only reason CS is still played is that its constantly updated, tweaked, and changed.

I played this version off cs from some site which was called classic cs, which was suppose to be off the beta cs. Only a couple of major changes were made, which were to the weapons being updated, the maps being taken in/out and es_ removed. There may be more, but I didn't really notice it.

I preffered cs when the carbine was permanently silenced and zoomable and when they had docks in I loved that map I carnt remember what beta it was but I haven't liked cs as much since they took those out.

I never played cs over the interweb with the betas but I suppose the permanetly silenced and zoomable ness could have been a bit annoying but it was mighty fun over the lans we had at school [addsig]
