Has anyone else noticed the room in boot camp with DMM 1999 written on the floor. ( Go into noclip and go through the door that says "Head".

yup, everyone else already knows about it, and there's no way in except for no-clipping. the room was locked up only hours before the map was released.

Why does noclip always have inside jokes attached to it??? Way back in DooM I, the noclip cheat was "idspispopd" - long story short, it comes from the phrase "Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Pieces Of Putrid Debris". In DooM II, if you use noclip to go inside the final boss, you see a picture of John Romero. In Duke3d, Richard Grey (one of the level designers) wrote the message "you aren't supposed to be here" in heaps of areas which aren't accessable without noclip. Chances are, if there's an inside joke in a game, you'll find it with noclip.
And what does "clipping" mean, anyhow?!? [addsig]

It's to do with the player colliding with objects in the world. (I assume)

Why is a fox called a fox?
Clip is another word for hit. It seems logical to presume this is where it originates.

The final easter egg in Doom3 seems to assume you'll need noclipping to get to it, but you don't

Paperclip.

It's probably called noclip because it eliminates the clipping hulls.

Your question was rude, so I responded with a Zen proverb.

Sorry, my dictionary doesn't have that definition of clip in it. I found another one which does, so I burnt my old one.
Your proverb doesn't make grammatical sense. What, if anything, does it mean? [addsig]

I believe it does make grammatical sense - I think, though I'm not sure, that it means the same thing as saying: "Why is a mouse a mouse when it runs?" As it's a Zen koan, whether it has a literal or even a philosophical meaning is debatable.
