Chillin' in my igloo in Canada I forsaw that coming. Although personally it doesn't seem like it'd be that bad, he has good enough advisors. He's a better "suprise" governor than say Jesse Ventura.

Agreed.   I'm sure people will listen to him and jump when he says so, not everyday you work with/for a movie star.   That or they just wont take him seriously, either way I don't expect much to change around here.

Maybe (and most likely not) he will try and do something about the cost of living here, even as the economy has been crippled in our most recent few years the cost of housing has still been gradually going up.   Rent is actually higher than most house payments and purchasing a house runs you from $300,000 (shack) to $1,000,000 + (new home in a city).   And rent for a 1 or 2 bedroom APT runs from $800 to $2000 + per month depending on where you live.   The working class individual just takes it up the a*s while the rich get richer!   This state just makes me sick sometimes, not everyone make 80K+ a year (fu*king b*sturds)

Hopefully there wont be anymore "needed" tax's.....next thing they'll do is tax us to breath!   Shoot they already tax us to take a Sh*t (when you buy TP to whip your butt and when you pay your water bill).

With the new registration fees for viecles it'll cost hundreds of dollars just to put your tires on the road.   Then they cut most of the school funding, all this state needs is more loser uneducated street punks running around murdering each other.

Man, I'm too poor to even move out... F*ck this state, california sucks bottom line!

lol word... california may suck, but its all some of us know

dream of californiacaaatiooon...

Anyway... arnold made a big point out of lowering taxes and pretty much anything else to give the economy an extra leg-up. I dont remember EXACTLY what he said, but it was during his announcment that he was running for governor. "gray davis is in it for the money - thats all. I'm rich, i don't need anymore money! I'm in it for all of you. To fix all the problems that gray davis caused."

or umm.. something to that extent hehe. He's definitely the new reagan!

I remember seeing a quote a while back... not sure when... But it was about Arnold and other celebrities taking runs for office. The basic jist of it was that we've been dealing with the same people and the same political bloodlines for so long that the only way we'll see any sort of change in the political system is with outside candidates such as Jesse Ventura or Arnold Schwarzenegger... People who are unaffected by the problems plaguing current politicians. The money point is a good thing to consider as well - Where other candidates often have to spend at least a year fundraising, Arnold has to... make a withdrawl from his bank account. Wouldn't you rather have a candidate actually working on the issues than worrying how he'll be funding his next election.

It's true that being famous doesn't mean you know politics and are qualified to be in public office - but being famous doesn't mean you aren't, either.

I'll openly admit I'm not from California and I have no idea how Arnold will hold up in office. But from what I've seen, I do believe that his heart is in the right place. If he can do what he's set out to do, more power to him. [addsig]

Jesus Lord, what a joke this election turned out to be.

First they pulled their governor out of office, which has only happened one other time (1928) in US history.  Then voters had to wade through 135 candidates (!) for the election, including Larry Flynt, Gary Coleman, a porn star who wanted to tax breast implants, and an artist who dresses in all blue and called his candidacy the "ultimate performance art piece".  No wonder Arnold won, he's the only one who stood out in that list.

I like how voters mentioned that they saw him in Terminator 3 at the exit polls.  He must be a great politician - I mean, he kicked that T-X robot's ass, right?
