I recently bought this for my audio book listening pleasure.

this in conjunction with my MP3 player i can listen to my books via the cars stereo system.

was well worth the 50 bucks.

i have seen a couple inferior models, be forewarned, not all transmitters are created equal.. shop around and test the product if possible.

Well, I bought myself an audio mixer and 2 extra speakers recently.
It's not unusual, but just plain cool.

I'm just stuffing my room with junk atm.

Those are (technically) illegal over here, I think!

I always liked Star Wars. I considered removing the posters, but I just couldn't do it. Teh memories ...

And yeh, I love my vinyl. This picture is in fact not recent, I also got myself an old taperecorder. Really, with some magnetic tapes and s**t. I paid 5 euro's for it, and it works ! I record old my mixes on magnetic tape ! How cool is that !

It looks very much like this one:

Lol, cool.

And about that transmitter: that's forbidden here in Belgium. They used to sell some small things that could broadcast music from Ipod's, so you could tune in your car radio, but that got forbidden, because it could interfere with police communication ...

I did the test, with my mate's Ipod. We had bought the transmitter before it became forbidden. He sat in the car with the Ipod, and I had a portable FM radio. Everything worked fine in the car, but as soon as I stepped out of it, and moved 1 or 2 meters away, the signal was gone.

How can it possibly interfere with police coms ? As long as they don't build their high-tech com center within 1 or 2 meters of my car, everything's fine.

to my knowledge, the frequencies used by the police are such ultra high, that a small transmitter such as this could hardly compare to the ones used in CB radios used by truckers, or the repeater radios used by civil contractors.

my gizmo is powerful but as with yours, it would maybe reach but a few meters.

it must be another reason. *shrugs*

I think I heard that they became illegal over here because it transmits a signal to the radio so in a way you are broadcasting it and it becomes a pirate radio station.

I dont know how credeble this is because I wasnt really listning to it but I do remember them saying something like that. I also wouldnt sware to that being the reason. [addsig]

I live next door to the Turkish Embassy and, when i was a kid, i used to have a walkie-talkie set. I sometimes managed to intercept gendarme radio communications with it. [addsig]

i wouldn't even know where or how to search for articles in your countries, but i sure would like to read some of them on how a low powered FM frequency generator can be illegal.

I think that just as our FCC puts regulations on products that say "This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules... May not cause interference and must accept any intereference, even that which may cause undesired operation." (Check the back of your computer keyboard for this message) Oftel (The Office of Telecommunications-which is FCC's brit counterpart) has probably mandated that no device can cause intereference in certain ranges of radio transmission.

Note: Oftel's duties have been taken on my OfCom http://www.ofcom.org.uk/

You can search for regulations documents there.

I've read all that FCC stuff, but in this case i don't think it applies, cause they obviously sell the item legally in parts of the world.

secondly, a wireless network, or even a wireless telephone has much greater range. not to mention cell phones. all i assume are legal in the regions where this product is now not sold.

the bandwidth is FM. it is a moderately low frequency, one only utilized by radios, such as are in autos and homes.

there is a reason we are not considering, and i wanna know what.

also bout the thing possibly being illegal, there is an alternaitive if it is . If you have a tape player you can put in a tape that has a special cord that comes out the back/side "you can change it" and you plug the cord into your Mp3 player , therefor its not a radio station , nothing is brodcasted , & it works *ive tried it*

http://www.expercom.com/product_detail.html?PRODUCT_ID=263558

you can prolly get em cheaper but here it is dunno why the itrip is so popular

EDIT: my keyboard doesnt have the fcc regs.... does that make my keyboard illegal? i spent 2 hours looking for a keyboard with the right springyness in the buttons it was only 10 bux too ! it better not be!
