Brad Pitt truly is a good actor, but I can't call him my favorite because then I'm . In Fight Club and Meet Joe Black he really had the demeanor of his characters down. That he was Tyler Durden in Fight Club really added to the image of the character as being someone with a lot of presence.

Edward Norton was born for Fight Club. That's not even an exaggeration. I've heard readings by him and have seen a few of his movies; nowhere is he as good as he was in Fight Club. His demeanor, his voice, and his tone were absolutely perfect for the Narrator.

Helena Bonham Carter was okay, but considering she looks like a beast it's hard to believe that the two main characters went for her. I suppose it fits with the theme and all, but still.

Brian Cox : X2, The Fifth Hour, Rushmore

You mean Spike Lee's 25th Hour? Good movie and great role for him. The guy can do so many different roles, I'm surprised that it was him half the time I see him.

Brian Cox is good in anything he does. He just brings so much to the screen and is such a great actor. See him in L.I.E., it's an amazing film and his role is scary and incredible. And don't get it from Blockbuster because that's the edited version.

Edit: Also, Cassius, you're crazy man cause Helena Bonham Carter is hot stuff!

Not in Fight Club she isn't. But they did that purposfully.

Mouse, seriously, Brain Cox blew ass before like '86 or so. He was a terrible actor. Then apparently something snapped and he became amazingly awesome and talented. Dammit, I love him in Adaptation too.

"For Gods Sake don't you DARE end your movie with a Deus Ex Machina!!"

Oh, man, seriously Adaptation is one of my favorite movies EVER. It's Charlie's best written work (yes, even better then Eternal Sunshine)
I suggest it to anyone and everyone. Also, it's the only movie I can think of that Nicholas Cage actually acts in.

You know, I only recently discovered him and have only seen his more recent films. I'll have to go to IMDB and check out some of his older work. He's one hell of an actor now, though.

Don't think I know of any great female actors though... they all tend to be s**t.

You're from the UK, you should know that Helen Mirran is a good actress.

Helena Bonham Carter is pretty good, she's in a ton of art films.

Kim Basinger was real good in Door in the Floor.

Audrey Tatoi (sp?) from Amelie is a good actress.

Sigorney Weaver as Ripley? C'mon she kicked ass.

Frances McDormand from Fargo is a great actress.

Naomi Watts, aside from being amazingly hot, is a great actress. Just watch the audition scene in Mullholland Drive where she goes from one character to a completely different one at the drop of the hat.

Joan Allen is pretty good. She was the mother in Pleasentville, in Bourne Supremecy also.

Well, I think I understood it well enough. Agent Smith justified the machines (and implicitly his) merciless attempts to "enslave" the human race by believing that humans were like viruses and were a plague on the planet. He felt that humans were brute and unsophisticated creatures as evidenced by our destruction of the enviornment, petty wars, etc as well as the supposed failure of the first "perfect" matrix. He was basically "racist" against all humans and took pleasure in torturing Morpheus, but he was also insecure about it, always trying to justify the machine's actions to Morpheus even though he would probably kill Morpheus after he got the information he wanted. Great character, but as I said they killed him in the 2nd and third movies by making him a stock villain. [addsig]

I don't know, Carrey as Ace Ventura takes the cake as the best character + actor combo in my mind. I also liked Cruise in The Last Samurai, I loved the movie. I'd also count Harrison Ford as Han Solo as one of my favourites as well.

Uh, Nep, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp are incredible actors. Who said we were talking about a "hot factor" or something like that?

Maze, I meant in the second and third movies, not the first one. The character overall is pretty well developed actually. But to be honest, any "classic" villain will probably seem cookie cutter in some way (Surprised no one ever points out other characters in the same light *cough*Luke Skywalker*cough*)

red text will get you attention you may not like.. just some advice.

anywho's it seems to me you need to assess your choices on actors. it looks like you based it on how cute they are, not their skill at the trade. i chose a female myself as best, but that was only coincidence, not because its supposed to be how guys pick them.

of the male actors i favor, harrison ford and jim carrey are among the top. richard dreyfus and dennis quaid are better still, but i suppose my favorite male actor is jimmy stewart. nothin beats his mr. smith.
