I just got my Nintendo DS today, and I pre-ordered my Sony PSP today too. So far, I love my DS. After playing my friends a few days ago I knew I had to get one. While the controls on Mario 64 are a bit akward at times the gameplay is still very solid. You play as Yoshi now, and there are now twenty extra stars added to the game (if you don't remember - you could get Yoshi on Mario 64 by collecting all 120 stars). The graphics are great, if not better, than the original. So far I have had a blast playing it and cannot wait to get more games.

Although Metroid: Hunters control scheme is horrific. Hopefully they'll tune it up before release. Now I just have to wait for my PSP, which I get in March - which I think will be much more superior to the DS. Only time will tell.

It has an eight hour battery life. Also, the battery life depends on how system-intensive the game you are playing is. And don't give me any of this 'oh the battery life is short' s**t. I'd rather play 6 hours of Metal Gear Ac!d then 50 hours of Spongebob DS, or any other kids-themed game that nintendo is going to pump out. All nintendo talks about is how there dual-screened handheld is going to 'innovate', but so far the second screen has only been used for a map. So I don't have to hit X to open my map anymore? Thanks nintendo.

The PSP will be far superior, low battery life or not. While I will still support my DS, I still think the PSP will win. One of the reasons is because of the web-browsing feature it has...Ooooh baby!

Allthough the PSP's battery will only last 3 hours when watching movies on it, it will still own DS.

I think you'll have some more gripes when it comes out.

There seem to be hundreds of major flaws in the psp design. Such as the game launching feature if the handheld is twisted.

Also, knowing Sony, you wont be able to take any chances with your psp's durability.

I saw videos of the PSP flinging UMD's. I can game and perfect my ninja-throwing style! And yes, I know how Sony kind of cheaps out when it comes to system durability.

I was just saying those are things that throw up flags for me. I'm sure the novelty of ejecting games will wear off and it'll just piss you off eventually. Because, again, knowing Sony, they wont fix it until the 3rd or 4th shipment.


I'd personally wait for reliability and a lower price. (I think the DS's price is still way too high)

Why would anyone buy these things anyway? PC's all you need.

  • Battery life: infinite
  • screen size: at least 15
  • lots of games
  • mapping
  • snarkpit

For your information, I know plenty of people with a 13" screen (1). They tend to look really nice.

But, the entire point is PORTABLE. Take it with you ... play games in class when the instructor is so insanely boring, even though you know the material you're forced to stay because they take attendance, which makes absolutely no sense, since you're in college.

I hear ya: College classes that take attendance are f**king ridiculous!! but wouldn't the instructor SEE you playing mech and get all mad? Plus i know of some computers that are portable, they're called laptops.(battery life is shoter though) We played Quake3 demo on our laptops in biology lecture, the only reason we got away with it was because there wre like 100 ppl in the class. I heard Sony plans to make a PSP MMORPG. I hate MMORPG's, but if its portable I will play it. Unless they charge a monthly fee. Then they can fornicate themselves with their unit.

No, strange enough they don't care.

But, I have a laptop and I'll tell you, I prefer my GBA when it comes to games.
I mean sure, I COULD sit though class and link up to other people and play Metal Slug for 3 hours ... but, it's just so much easier (and more reliable) with a hand held.

By the way, I never plan on buying a PSP ... for reasons stated earlier.

My laptop BARELY plays HL ... and that's in software mode (it's a ten year old laptop, runs damn well for that age though). So, I don't think I'll be gaming with it very much.

And if you say, "Buy a new laptop", I'll kill you.
