Oh ok, well those 2 levels shown at E3 must have been the entire game (because obviously everything Valve made was stolen)- where did you get these pics?

All those pictures look like they came from the same section of one map...unless of course all of HL2 is based in a city harbor.

Wow, it sure is a good thing this hacker stole the game, otherwise we would have never known Valve's devious plans... remember, Gabe Newell started out working at Microsoft, I'm certain we can weave a tale where Valve is going to make HL2 X-Box only or delayed it so that it to only be shipped with copies of the new version of Windows (longhorn?). I hope the hacker can shed light on this plot as well!

PS: Stop spreading the damn leak.

A bit offtopic, but I have some more proof that shows how stupid valve is.

http://www.myg0t.com/ChrisNewcombe-PR.txt

Someone on steam created an account named "Gabe" and contacted Chris newcomb, and he spilled the beans about steam implenting peer-2-peer in the near future.

I'm not supporting s**t like this, I don't want some half-assed leak, I want the proper HL like the developers were planning on finishing. [addsig]

Gor, I know how you feel. But recently phl or somebody has been saying that this leak and such has f**ked up Hl2 so much, it might not ever be released. [addsig]

That?s a pretty nonsensical statement Vash. I think you and many others are overreacting in a big way. Yes it?s bad that their code was stolen, but you?ve forgotten one thing, Valve is out to make MONEY just like all corporations. Why in heaven would they choose not to release a game that is guaranteed to be a best seller? Likewise lying to the community as a publicity stunt would also be a completely profitless thing to do, and therefore about as plausible as cold fusion.>>

Yes, very good point. But, I am not over-reacting exactly. I am just showing people some pictures that they probally havent seen, and downloading HL2 because I want it....Badly [addsig]

I have no quams in saying I have the leak, I got on an irc XDCC.

I have now deleted it, because it is rather useless. No level is complete, even the e3 levels are just "shopfronts". The part they showed you was complete, but if you step out the back it is a mess, this is why it wasn't a playable demo at e3.

The biggest indicator that it wont harm valve though, is that nothing in any of the levels stolen gives away the storyline, other than C17 seems to be in futuristic Russia.

There are no complete scripted scenes, with many having the sound recording complete, but the characters just stand there, and wlk to where their queue positions are to say their lines.

The physics are damn cool, but to be honest, it still feels HL1-ish... which I guess is a good thing, seeing that it is a sequel

There is even more silly little jumpy things which I have trouble shooting, grrrr...

seeing as how im also a part of the 'empire', just as thylacine is... i can say that i agree totally. There is only one map that is worth playing for enjoyment (the coast level with the buggy that you all have seen..)

I havn't deleted mine, though... mapping for hl2 is fully functional (after some tweaking i did..). And having a custom map on the day of the release will serve a real advantage in distribution! This leak can't possibly affect the future sales of the game, and can't hurt valve - no, scratch that... if anything, it will give people an extra jump on making maps and mods. And i dunno if anyone knows half-life 1's secret to success.. but it's in mods. The consumer pool has only grown bigger and bigger since its release, and that is due to the constant tweaking and modding.

So.. i know the bulk of you will disagree - but, in short, the leak can only help valve.

(pleeeease dont get me wrong, though... i seriously do have a splinter in my conscience about using the leak.)

Have you not read about the troubles with Steam and verifications of Credit Cards etc. that this has caused? This is not a developers release of code, it's too much code, it CAN hurt other people money-wise even if it isn't VALVe it could be average Joes.

It was all together, they were targeted, nothing is 100% secure. Especially promoting this doesn't help, it's part of the problem. If they revealed too much then there'd be no interest anymore, if they don't reveal enough people bitch about it and it ends up being targeted for theft from people too impatient and greedy enough to wait. As much as a "jump" you're getting on having maps ready for release on a game that was pushed back to April as opposed to waiting until Christmas...wow, big jump! In fact wait, that's backwards! It's the same deal with the DoD v1.0 release, it was delayed almost a day because the official mirrors couldn't access the file because a small group of idiots got ahold of the original host ftp meaning that high bandwidth official servers couldn't host the file and a handful of idiots took up the space so instead of 1000s of people getting the game right away, the handful got it. Yeah, good job guys, good thinking, keep it up, this way people are going to want to make more games for you in the future. [addsig]

Quite frankly, I'm a bit (no, make that very) disappointed with anybody who downloads and or distributes the stolen files, especially any regulars from around here. I don't care if it gives you a leg up on any aspect of HL2, it's F***ed up. You probably say to yourself "I'll just get it for myself, and won't distribute it", or, "it IS incomplete after all so who cares?".

The "I WANT IT NOW! " attitude sounds very much like a spoiled brat having a tantrum. By downloading any aspect of this you ARE aiding in the distribution of it, and helping to muck it up for the rest of us who are waiting patiently to go get it at retail prices when it's released.I swear, I'll never understand the double standards people set for themselves.Bitching about how valve was screwed by hackers, then going to their favorite pirate website and downloading the darn thing.

Yes steam sucks, yes Valve handled the whole thing poorly, and yesy HL2 is now gonna be reeeeeeeal late in being released. So what!. Steam is getting better, (albeit slowly), Valve is gonna finish the game and when it does come out, its gonna rock.Be an adult and just wait for it. You'll be satisfied I'll wager, and we'll all have several more years of mapping madness at our hands then, no sooner.

I'm done now,

steps back and waits for flaming to begin
