Every year, I participate in the art studio contest in my city, in the category 'video'. I made an arty video again, called "Factor Y" (you got it ... factory, eheh ... eh.) It will be shown to the public on 13 february 2005.

Like last year, I would love to show it to you guys, but I'm in a constant need for webspace.

So, here's my question ... does anybody have like 75 mb spare webspace to host the file for a month or so ?

Here are some screencaps from the movie. (widescreen, that's right ^^)

How many downloads will it likely have? I have plenty of storage room.....question is the bandwidth transfer.

i have plenty of storage but can only upload 15 meg chunks. so i reflect mikee's question. would you be willing to split it into chunks?

i do it all the time with 100% success.

I don't know. If a lot of people on the snarkpit are interested, the download count co?ld hit 100.

I really cannot compile a version with lower quality, it will become a pixel-fest.

If there is a download link, it will only be in this thread, and nowhere else.

I can quite easily spare the storage and bandwidth, but the question is transferring it... suggestions on a postcard please

I could host it, but as with Lep, the problem would be you getting it to me.

But I don't really have a limit on bandwidth, and storage isn't an issue at all. [addsig]

suggestion: i can grant access to my briefcase. if anyone wants to host it but cannot receive it.

step one would be to split it up into 15 meg chunks.
step two upload it to my briefcase
step three, the real host person gets the pieces from my briefcase and recombines them.
step four, the real host has the whole file in one chunk.

i am willing to assist if need be.

It wouldn't be long at all if you set up an FTP to your own computer, then you can host it for a day or 2, and it'll take not too long... Then anyone whos interested can pm you, then you assign them a slot to download it so that no more than 2 people at once are downloading it.

What connection you on?

Seconded, much safer then opening direct FTP lines (probably). [addsig]

Outlook Express can split large files into multiple emails for accounts with message size limits.

Tools>Accounts, and the 'Internet Accounts' dialogue opens.

Select the account that has the filelimit, and hit the Properties button.

A dialogue box for that account will open. Select the Advanced tab, and near the bottom, you will see a [cleared] checkbox to 'Break apart messages larger than', with a slider next to it for the filesize. Check the box, and set the size limit.

I've used it a couple of times with no problems.

You should have named it "Mister E."

That being said, I liked your past video despite it's being really artsy. I WANT THIS MOVIE IN MY PANTS

The screenshots look awesome. I'd like to see this movie, don't have any webspace or anything though.

The easiest thing would be for some of those who said they have unlimited bandwidth and storage to just make a temporary FTP user account for you to login and upload it to that folder, then they could move it their intended download folder, and delete your FTP user account.

That's what I would propose, if those other people can do that with their FTP, rather than chopping it up into pieces or using bit torrent to create a seed...both of which are viable options, but it doesn't sound like you are used to doing that. I use Azureus which lets me easily create a seed torrent on my server....

75mb x 100 = 7.5 GB's which is not a big deal for my setup either.
