I am nailing down the firewall configuration (very secure) and the backup generator is on order. |
Tight security and backup generators. Valve could learn a thing or two from you! ![]()

I think you're getting Mustang mixed up with Monqi ![]()

Hi everyone. Thanks for the attention. Perhaps I can help a little.
Private Datacetner = Leased office space (900 sq foot). Steel Doors, first floor, concrete walls, and a nice big door in back to roll my R1 in for indoor parking.
Backup Generator = Onon RS20000
Climate Control = Carrier X Series 23,500 BTU A/C and Austin Healthmate Plus HEPA Air Filtration.
Not to mention a backup facility 60 miles away with the same facilities in event of fire or flood (www.sfnetworks.com).
Now you may be able to understand my disgust with Valve if they indeed don't have any failover facilities. If I can take the time and investment to put this together they should be able to put me to shame.
Anyway - the site is just starting to come together around scrambling to keep paying clients happy. Poke around all you want but be aware that my Watchguard 1000 (www.watchguard.com) will surely let me know if anyone tries 'offensive behavior' ... lol
This is how rich you can be if you start up a map website and sell people's e-mail addresses
I'm planning on buying the Kinder Egg corporation myself.

It is out of my own pocket. However, now it is expensive and I am trying to devise methods of generating some revenue so I can still feed myself. I do not plan to make any cash - just need to cover expenses. I want the site to serve the community for free, but other revenue ideas are being researched. I will definately NEVER sell out to pop-up or huge banner ads. but a small sponsors section may be helpful in attracting advertising.
Originally I wanted have the site generate cash that I could return to the site members in the form of contest prizes etc. I thought it would be cool to have monthly (at least quarterly) mapping contest for 21" LCD Monitor's, Plazma TVs, or Dell XPS machines etc. If it ever starts making money that will be the first thing I will implement. I love contests and if the site gets enough members I could even approach Dell for freebies.
Anyway, the whole effort is "not-for-profit", I just need to keep it "not-for-bankrupt" also

| Maybe we could get more people like Grandpa-Geezer around and start having some cash flowing in the community |
Yeah, a good $0.05 circulating should do it.
