It can be found Here

? quote:
REDMOND, Wash. ? Feb. 17, 2005 ? As a precautionary measure and out of concern for consumer safety, Microsoft Corp. today announced that it will voluntarily replace the power cords on 14.1 million Xbox? consoles worldwide.
The replacement power cords are designed to protect consumers and their Xbox consoles from rare electrical component failures that can pose a fire hazard. Fewer than one in 10,000 consoles have experienced these component failures, and, in almost all instances, any damage caused by these failures was contained within the console itself or limited to the tip of the power cord at the back of the console.

.......Xbox consoles manufactured before Oct. 23, 2003, require a replacement power cord. In Continental Europe, consoles manufactured before Jan. 13, 2004, require a replacement power cord.

Yup this was also in the Santa Cruz Sentenel (local news paper) that the xbox power cords tend to over heat, and will cause fire to any "cumbustible" material around it. So if you are like me, someone who has PS2, Game Cube, Xbox pluged into the same power strip, then you might want to look into getting it replaced, to prevent fire in your house, dorm, appartment, etc. Place an order Here to have Microsoft replace your Xbox power cord for free (only if it was manyufactured before Oct. 23 2003 in the US and Jan. 13 2004 in Europe. GET ON IT BEFORE YOU BURN YOUR HOME DOWN!!!!

Hardly worth criticising as old news Crono, as omega said, its only a few days old.

I've never had any problems with mine and apparently the numbers involved are really small. To be honest, I'm not gonna bother as I can't be bothered going through the hassle.

Im sure the problem has been in the works for a long time crono, but the official announcement was on the 17th.

And Reno its no problem/hassle at all, you just enter your serial number and manufacture date, and you adress at the web site and they will send you one for free. The only problem that I see is if you did something illegal to the xbox (like buy a boot-leged version).
