Hi everyone!

As mentoned before here and here i've been working on a random map generator for half-life 2. Well, i'm like 99% prec done coding now but i badly need rooms to feed it with! You don't have to be great at mapping but you should know basic hl2 mapping layout! I will give anyone, contributing with anything lots of credits in the first version!
If you want to join, there's no need to tell me. Just make a room and send it to me when you're done!
All rooms will be used in the first release of HL2RMG. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that's it 4 kinds of rooms, alleys, 2 way rooms, 3 way rooms and cross sections. There's four types of connection sizes (the size of the hole into your room), vent, door, gatage and hangar. I can make holes for you if you want.
If you want to position the weapons and enemies yourself, get the official fdg HERE and add it into hammer!
There is no restrictions, start mapping! Any help is appreciated, tnx!

You may want to make a VMF with all possible room connectors and dimensions. That way, you'd save youself time editing the rooms to fit properly.

I agree, but it's impossible. Two rooms with a diffrent connection dimension("hole") cannot be connected without a leak unless randmap makes 3 solids to syncronize their size. But then, randmap can't know witch texture that's around the connection hole.
The operation is very complicated, so i might make something like that in a distant future, but i'm open for other suggestions.

What if you make a hollow template room - and have people fill it up however they want to, that way they will all fit together.


just make a couple templates with different sizes, amounts of connectors and stuff...

That's what I was trying to say. Make a standard template so that us mappers could make sure that the rooms connect.

Also, if you can get enough submissions, you could divide rooms into themes or something.

Already made
Its called "genre" and can be set inside the randmap_info entity. It's just a "dream function" for the future when randmap has so many rooms, that i can choose frome themes. Until then, the genre option should always be set to 0.
