No, Im not stealing textures merely looking at them. Hawkins sent me a map with some sort of effect he believed to be done by the textures that would help my map look like its underwater.

The textures are unfortunately embedded in the bsp, Id like to take them out so I can understand how it was done & then make my own version of it.

What program was it that did this?

It's called Textract... imaginatively :P

I can't seem to find it. It used to be hosted here, but seems to have been removed. Anyway, if you need it, I could e-mail it to you. Just throw me your e-mail address smiley

i have no idea how to rip one, but there is a command to tell you what its called.. ask lep.. you type it into console, and it will tell you what texture you are viewing in HL by name..

at least thats my understanding.. then you would at least know which you want.. plus you might be able to google search it out..

I sent it over KoRn.

And the command to view the name of the texture you're pointing at is 'impulse 107'

I believe the function of finding out the name is "impulse 107" in dev 1 mode. I may be wrong though!

thanks m8, its much simpler than I expected it to be, however itl take quite a bit of effort to reproduce it myself.

No problem.

BTW: would this effect have anything to do with the recent "Water Reflections" thing going around? Just a wild guess, but I thought it might be useful if adapted properly to simulate Underwatery-ness.

You can also use QuArK for the same purpose.

Tal-N's map from Anomalous Materials? I have the additive animated textures in a WAD, just give me a ring in IRC and I'll upload it somewhere for ya.
