Welcome to the dam tour. I'm going to be your dam guide. We'll see some dam equipment and some dam buildings. Afterwards, you'll be able to buy stuff at the dam gift shop. Before we get started, are there any dam questions?

"yeah, where do we get the dam bait?"
you know what people, i asked ages ago if anyone wanted to see the Hoover pics, when i went to the grand canyon. no one said a thing
i would have had them at the pit already for that reason. i was saving bandwidth.
*mumbles*
"stupid briefcase"

WARNING:OBSCENELY HUGE SCREENS, CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN PERIL.
Firstly, read all this text before you reply, it will save time in the end
. Secondly, some of these shots look the same.. they could be, I kept losing my place as i uploaded them. Another thing however is, as I walked across the dam I kept noticing other bits and bobs of architecture and was not sure that I got it in the other shots so I took another just in case. Since I had 400+ total capacity, I could afford to splurge a bit. At first one is captivated by the shear scale of this site, I was later to learn what scale really means when I visited the canyon itself.
I would also like to mention that Image shake generates 3 different lines of code when uploading.. use the middle one to get these fine thumbnails for snarkpit use in posting.
I suggest you sit back and take the time to look at all these screens. Some contain some excellent mapping potential.

Gotta love Jon.... Your link still points to your briefcase
[EDIT] Jon, how is a deer in the wood "mapping potential"?
On another note, thanks very much for the pics. I was working on the map all last night, from midnight to 2 in the morning.

Doc, please do fill me in on fog and all this. I guess it would make some nice effects and of course, add to playability. I'll also have to improvise on a few things. Im just wondering right now. I have the base of the dam done, but not the actual dam part itself. I dont know if I should allow players to go on the top portion of the dam, as this might make the map too big for the engine to handle. Although it would make some sweet sniping senarios.
Right now Im planning it as a bomb/defuse map for Counter-Strike:Source with, if possible, the Terrorists starting at the top of the dam, near a car blockade, and the CT's possibly starting at the dam's "security center" Somewhere within the facility.
The bottom part of the dam stretches very long though, so right now I made it smaller than actual, mainly because of engine performance, but if I can fool the engine with fog and such, I will make the full length, and just clip off the ends so that it wont become a mile marathon for the players, as it already is very long.

In fact, it has already been done, and except for it's performance, it does'nt look half bad actually.
I fiddled around with making "Arkangel Dam" remake from Goldeney64, and if you make the map up to scale, then you can expect to eat up your entire horizontal area with just "dam". No joke: A 10,000 back clipping plane couldn't show me the entire map ![]()
