Looks pretty functional, but its too cluttered for my tastes. I'm sure you could get rid of half of those desktop icons by putting them into your mad sidebar buttons and whatnot :P

Here we see the upstairs of my desktop

And this is the underground.

Don't mind a lot of that stuff. Like the wallpaper is from when I was 6. I'm 14 now.

I see you like to have no icons on your desktop, satchmo. There are tweaks (like X-Setup and Powertools for XP) to make that last icon - trashcan - dissapear too, you know.

I love a clean desktop but have found it a pain as well. Not everything installs a link to the "Start" button. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">

If you have no link on the desktop, you must search it out via "My computer" and thats bulls**t..

My machine is optimized to give me every last erg of resources my paltry talents can attain.. removing all the Icons was one of those tweaks, although... even though it was a tweak option, I dunno how it could save resources, but since I love a clean desktop, i used it anyways...

You can just put things into the start button yourself by dragging an icon onto it, or by going to your start menu folder and editing it (will be found, on XP, somewhere like... Documents and SettingsAll UsersStart Menu).

My desktop has no image, however Grimlock gave me this one in days past which I still have on my wifes computer and keep it there faithfully.

This is just the image, not a screen of it with Icons all over it.

No, I almost never click on the Start button. I have assigned a shortcut key (i.e. Ctrl-Alt-K) to every single program on my computer. I have memorized all these keys (including the symbol keys) so I can start any program in a fraction of a second without even putting my hand on the mouse.

You can imagine that I used to be a huge WordPerfect fan.

Actually, that's not entirely true. I could've easily gotten rid of that trashcan using TweakUI from the MS PowerToys, but I wanted to see whether I have any files in the trashcan at all times. I don't want to delete the files immediately, but I also don't want any files sitting in the trashcan for more than a few hours.

I am extremely compulsive in that way. In fact, I do that to the real-life trashcan in my room too. I empty out the trashcan every other day, even though it's not even full.

What's most amazing is that my fiance loves me despite me being a superfreak.
