im glad to see snarkpit using custom made maps on a server. makes sence realy. i played "crossfire 2" some wile ago and it was realy nicely made. maybe a nice one to add. if you can get it.

1 thing i think that you could do, when you start the map it comes up the the snarkpit text stuff. i think you might of put this but i am not sure. but is it possible to put the text of like (who made the map, maybe some error, thanks too's ) and things like that. per map.

Added map np_refinery (by keved) to the rotation

Removed this map because it appeared to crash the server Will investigate later.

Password should be put on and distributed amongst your friends. That way it won't be unused (word of mouth will pass the password around). Make the password simply "snarkpit". That way only people who know of the snarkpit will guess. It's ridiculous- I never get to play because it's filled with random hoodlums! [addsig]

No, no, no, no and no.

I am not putting the password back on apart from for themed nights. I am not moving on this, so people will stop trying to move me on this. There is nothing to discuss!

I don't like morbid too much, i would suggest taking it off if others agree.

It looks great but the layout is pretty bad, you can god a minute or two without seeing a single person.

I suggest assigning some admins ,from amongst those who have time to play every day, to make sure everything goes smoothly.

It's only on because it's complete, and fairly good quality -

What do people think of a playtesting night either tonight, or some time in the week:

Maps to test:

dm_hydro (Agent_Smith, is this finished? It can be put on general rotation if you prefer)
dm_battlecreek (rs6)

Add your suggestions here!

Yeah I agree, no password, the snarkpit has always been an open comunity, and so should the server, but there needs to be a way to filter out the hoodlums, maybe set up a "admin" shift scedule...or something along those lines, because there will always be hoodlums on the servers, but with a set up like this there could be a way to filter them out.

this is suppost to be in the map section, but only puts it here:
I would suggest my map dm_departure, named dm_depature (misspelling ), but it crashes linux servers, and I dont know why. Maybe if I re-compile it will work . [addsig]

We don't really need an admin shift schedule TBH, I will be giving out admin rights to *some* people, but I don't want people clawing for the rcon pass when in reality you hardly ever need to use it.

So far i've kicked one person for voice spamming (voice will be disabled), one for having a name KKKsomething and one for generally being a moron toward me and Cass last night (he got banned). I'd rather the admin system was based on 2 or 3 people who are regularly in IRC and people can use that as a reference point to go and request an admin, ala Jolt.

Sorry as if it seems i'm dishing out the orders, but I really don't want an inflated admin team who I barely know (no offence). More to the point we will need admins for the themed nights/playtests, as opposed to public policemen. If people are willing to volunteer time and can guarantee their time for slot x, y or z, that would be much more useful.

First and foremost, we need ideas as to what we can do in regards to private "website only" nights - and achieve a fair balance so everyone can participate.

Uhh, would it be possible to have Team Deathmatch sometime? Or maybe just nag an admin to change it? Lockdown with 16 people FFA was pretty crazy and luck-oriented, and although I slaughtered Reno quite a few times, I couldn't help but wonder what TDM would be like.

I just got on the server whilst it was full- alot of people complaining of lag, and as for me- unplayable completely. Dunno whats up with it.

Sounds good, as long as its passworded! (this was posted in the map suggestion section, but its here for some reason?!) [addsig]

YOu can have whatever you can feasibly think of TBH CJ - the only thing i'll decide is who to give rcon access to, more or less.

This is going to be your server guys, so you need to suggest ideas - I won't be here to play on it from April onwards, so it's better if we have some ideas lined up ready to sort out who can admin and whatnot.#

*bangs head on desk*

Themed nights, playtests WILL BE PASSWORDED!

Do people actually read anything I type?

I enjoyed playing yesterday. It's fun gunning for everybody with [snarkpit] tags . The only suggestion I would make is to reduce the number of players from 16 to like 12, as I was getting some mad fps drops in overwatch. If nobody else experiences that and it's just my computer then no biggie, I can deal. The other side of it though is that I don't think any of the maps currently in rotation are meant for 16 player DM. Overwatch and Lockdown get too crowded, Morbid shouldn't even be on there, Torque supposedly turns into a lagfest with more than a few, and Island17 may be just a little too open for that many. Although since demand seems to be very high you might as well bump it up to 24 players so people like Myrk can get on the server whenever they want... [addsig]

I've said it before, and I'll say it again- Morbid is nice, but could be soooo much better. It would be nice to have a revamped version, with more atmosphere and layout tweaks, and especially more spawn points (gets a bit silly with 8+ players).

I kinda agree about the player limit - it seems a shame after paying for a 16 slot server but 16 players really is hectic (though a good laugh now and then) and hurts performance. 12 sounds to me like a decent max for most of the maps we have on there just now. The downside is that the server is pretty much full 80% of the time, and so if the player limit is dropped then it will be even harder to get a slot.

One idea that is an alternative to a passwording the server but ensures snarkpit members can always get in, is to put in a priority system. My flatmates' DoD clan server has it, where clan members can join even when the server is full and it kicks out a non-member to make space. Might be viewed as a bit elitist or whatever, but its just a thought.

The map is just about done Gwil, just some minor bugs to repair, though nothing that affects gameplay. You can put it up now though, as I won't have time to release the final anytime soon, as I'm extremely busy with uni.

I agree with you Reno, we need something like that. I'd brought the issue up in the original thread before Lep locked it. It's not elitist, as you yourself pointed out many others do it.

(Sorry, should be in other chapter)

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but once you have a good list of maps sorted out, release them in the SnarkPit Server Map Pack. That way you can get everything much easier.

Just a thought...

I was just on and it kicks ass. [addsig]
