I guess all clan things should go in here... post your Steam ID if you want to be considered for it, and don't ask me who's in charge of it <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Nooooo man, there is a thread in the general banter section about the clan, its called "HL2CCL begins" because that is the name of the league we are in smiley You steam ID is a different thing to your username by the way - you can get it by typing "status" in the console during a game.

Our next official match is on Sunday 24th (ie. this Sunday), at 19:00 GMT, versus the clan 2H2K. A couple of their players play in the snarkpit server reasonably often, and they seem like reasonable though not exceptional players. Their map is dm_station17 with friendly fire off. Server details haven't been announced, so I'll post that up once I know.

We may also have a match with the.nine sometime if they reply to my thread on the HLCCL forums, but they haven't done so so far.

Station17 is a horrbile map, arg! I played it the other day and was blow away with the low level of craftsmenship. There are doors that arn't solid and props, like computers and tables, that are static rather than physics...

Is this going to be another 4vs4 game? I think I might be able to play aswell. We'll see.

At least it has a reasonable layout and vertical play smiley I agree that the non-solid doors were a really rather horrible design choice, but the author said he didn't want to impede flow. God knows why he didn't just remove the doors or make them fixed in the open position however smiley

Just search for a convertor on google to find the local time for yourself, such as this one...

? quoting Leperous

An admin shift, designed in such a way that there will always be at least 1 admin online whenever you play, would be nice. The snarkpit server is a jungle! It's become a habit for hobos to swear at eachother, to voice-spam and generally to misbehave.

What time of the day (GMT or whatever) does this usually happen? I'm going to be in there more often now, with my bannination tool at the ready, though if someone wants to tell me the rcon command to view a player's Steam ID it would be appreciated

Urgh, stacked quotes. Er yes, anyway - if you want to ban/kick someone, just use the popup admin tool--accessed via the console--failing that, just type "status" to show a list of Steam ID's currently playing. You don't even need to be logged onto rcon to do this, so I encourage people to screenshot spamming/hacking and write down the relevant steam ID.

The steampowered forums have a big list of shared Steam ID's you can copy into our current banlist, for example I have pretty much everyone who was banned from the K-9 server copied to it already (mostly for using the entity spam exploit)

You can do all of that in your Windows clock in the bottom right corner. Just find the relevant time zone, flick to it and it will display the time there.

And you guys call yourself geeks, sheesh... :P

After much consideration i have reconsidered my opinion of being a server admin.

it prolly won't make me play any more, but having the ability to fix things when i am here has its advantages, even if someone were to only ask me to do it once in a while.

considering the alternative if someone were to ask me now, it seems prudent.

if you have a slot available put me in. if one comes open, lemme know.

i do however have a question, are there multiple levels of admin? i mean, i helped with ours, but i had full access, i could do anything.. that is not really my goal.. i would want to only be able to say reboot it if it crashed, or take note of an offending members ID number to report it as a reliable verifier..

in other words, a bargain basement admin.. one you can call upon if no real admin is around.

Actually, I don't think anybody but Gwil, Lep and myself can reboot it To reboot it you are required to use an rcon command, and to use that you need to know the rcon password (as far as I can gather). At the moment Andrei and NatUS only have admin access through the mani server plugin, which allows them to change maps, kick and ban, and the like, but I don't think they can give specific server commands.

On the reporting abusive/troublesome players, anybody can actually do that, so I encourage people to do so if there is any bother. Just type "status" in the console and it will give you a list of all the players in the server and their steam ID.

didn't mean to steal anyones thunder. smiley

*whispers*

i talked to Lep, he will assign me some duties as soon as he can.

thanx Duncan.. i didn't know it was that involved.. as i said, i had full access to our server, i didn't know it was difficult to assign specifics.

/me didn't mean to be any trouble.

No no, not at all mate. To be honest its a bit of a concern that you need full access to restart the server, as there are a couple of fairly common bugs in HL2DM that require it to be restarted, and so it would be nice if everybody could do it. I don't know how gwil would feel about giving out rcon access to all the admins though, so I'm loathe to go ahead and do it.
