Yeah -- the server does keep odd hours when you're over here on the east coast. But, I should play there more often.

Being in Australia the best time for me is about 1-2am, which you can see is a bit of a problem. If I ever see people in there, particularly those with the SnarkPit tag, then I play if I can spare the time or if my eyes aren't as dry as sandpaper.

Also finally played Hydro the other night with Natus and some randoms, and it was great. Really the first time I've played it online with any number of people, usually cause theres no one on when I want to play.

? quoting Agent Smith
Being in Australia the best time for me is about 1-2am,

Is this your local time bud? or are you converting it somehow to another zone?

you are what? 14 hours in front of me? I could be available at 12 noonish my time for you.. all you need do is catch me online and say "Hey, lets frag"

I usually leave a message in here stating my willingness to contribute to someones kill totals.

There seems to be a bug with the admin module; I tried to set the nextmap to departure (because it's a new map and everyone agreed that a new map is always worth seeing) but, to my surprise, I discovered that I could only switch to steamlab, lockdown and overwatch! This usually happens on steamlab when the server resets and usually wears-off after the map change, but not this time (we were playing torque when I noticed). I noticed one more thing on steamlab after the server self-resets: the ranks get screwed-up (displaying ranks different from the ones being displayed when you check em on other maps).

Hey do any of you hard-core HL2DM addicts (ok ok, myself included <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> ) fancy a game of CS:S together?

Bleh, if its not on the mapcycle/maplist.txt *whatever* it probably won't work.

As Orpheus pointed out it's probably a case of handing over FTP details to another peon as ReNo and Leperous are both busy with University (I think). If someone is happy to read through the Mani Documentation and deal with uploads of maps etc, i'll send on the details.

Andrei? Orph? Natus? Give me email addresses to forward the details to and i'll hook you up with the FTP.

Read the documentation first though, it will explain the process of adding new maps etc etc - and alert ReNo/Lep to a map change so it can be added to the top of the site. Maybe also if there is a popular HL2DM mod about (HL2CTF ?) it can be installed (possibly) and stuck on sometimes.

*shrugs* Just an idea <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

any or all of us.. tis your call.

I would do it, but ask that we decide more frequently which maps are acceptable or not. I mean, not having time to upload is a good excuse, but never saying "Yes" or "No" is another thing totally. I bow to my peers advice, but cannot if they never give it.

My only request is, if I think a map is server material that someone tell me yes or no.

If those terms are acceptable, then I can upload and do so gladly.

use my ejoop account if you wish, or my msn account.

Of course. I play more CS than I do HL2DM. Next time I'm in IRC just let me know if you want to play. In fact, more people should idle there.

Whoow, uploading maps? *shrugs* Sorry, but I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole given how "unstable" my connection can get sometimes. Besides, i'm not sure i'm the best to judge which maps are worthy and generally don't want such a big responsibility. Perhaps...Orpheus or Natus?

I have come to the inescapable conclusion.. My maps will not contain anything tossable.. I am rapidly becoming annoyed with getting stuck on things because my ping delays prevent it.. Yeah, I know.. Its just an excuse, but dammit.. I play badly enough without people getting kills because I am stuck. :/

Speaking of which, I once spawned UNDER a whole pile of prop_physics. Good thing tau neutrino happened to be walking around and was kind enough to blow me out of that mess with a well placed grenade.

If that ever happens, or any other glitch that gets you stuck, just type 'kill' into the console, that'll achieve the same result as someone blowing you up without giving them a kill.

I'd rather give someone a frag than to remove one from my own kills (yes, typing kill in console = -1 frag + 1 death).

Ah crap, its due to the admin mod reading the "maplist.txt" from the server, and when Valve release an HL2DM update like the recent one, it resets the maplist.txt to only those 3 maps. I'll fix it up once I get a chance, but I'm afraid my own computer with all the FTP details and what have you isn't set up at the moment (just moved out of my flat you see). Thanks for pointing this out, had forgotten it would have happened again.

Pushing for my map to be added again -- I would really appreciate it guys, I think it's of a really high quality, with great gameplay that I beta tested for nearly two months.

Bl1tz, your best bet is to hang around in IRC or try contacting one of the admins for a playtest. It won't be thrown on the server straight away, playtesting is essential before it can be approved.

Join our channel on Quakenet and try grabbing NatUS, Andrei, ReNo or any others who have access to admin. I'd organise something but i'm on the other side of the world and don't have Steam etc on my laptop :P

Also it might be worth your while taking on board some changes from the thread you made for your map. People tend to be more receptive when their queries are addressed and implemented - merely for testing rather than rebuttled..

Just a thought!

Like I say however, your best bet is to get in touch with one of the admins.

I did implement virtually every change people wanted, and I beta tested it for nearly two months, in addition to taking advice on pre-beta screenshots. I simply cannot satisfy everyone, so if you feel like someone made a valid suggestion that I didn't implement, I apologize.

Thanks for mentioning the IRC chan, I'm on Quakenet anyway so I'll stop by and idle.

I ran through it and it definitely has the waste processing facility theme down. I liked it (the charred corpses in the toxic sludge was a nice touch). I think we should hold a playtest and see if maybe it could get put on rotation. I think it could be a real candidate.

I don't know how it plays, but I think it looks pretty good and it has the potential for a lot of combat on the z-axis.
