Quite possibly useless information for most of you, but some people might be interested to know of the insane prices you can pick up a Gamecube for in the UK right now. The Game website has them going for ?65, which is a good enough price as is, but the fact it comes with Mario Kart Double Dash, Donkey Konga, AND the Donkey Konga controller just makes it insane. If you were to buy the two games and controller seperately it would cost you more! I've no idea how long the deal will be there for, but I wouldn't imagine hugely long, so best get an order in quick if you are interested. With Res Evil 4 just coming out today in the UK, its an ideal time to pick one up as well I'm still undecided on buying one for several reasons (bit skint, already one in the flat, and with their main appeal being multiplayer action I'd HAVE to invest in more controllers), but I just thought I'd share the info.

I don't think I'll play a Gamecube if I were given one for free. Console games are just not my thing.

And...they're bringing down the price for a reason. Because a lot of people don't want to buy a Gamecube.

Supply and demand...

Im perfectly aware of that, but that doesnt mean its a bad console, or that nobody wants it. Many shops that stock console games don't even support it any more, and its clearly just about on its last legs as a commercial console. Still though, I can vouch for it being a great thing to have if you often game with mates - 4 player Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, or Smash Brothers is really a beautiful thing

i dunno about the world, but in Arkansas, they are at least as popular as the xbox.. at least the store shelves are empty of them almost as soon as the game system touches them..

perhaps the fact that i do not play them renders my opinions moot, but they seem very popular here.

The Gamecube might not be that popular in the UK, but its got some great games - and if it goes the same way as the Dreamcast we'll have a shedload of cheap games to follow too. I love my Gamecube simply because no-one makes games with as much charm and playability as Nintendo.

/sales pitch over

The Zelda game coming out soon is reason enough to get a Gamecube...and I wish they had a deal like that here, I'd buy one even though I already own it if not for the games, I could just re-sell the console for the money I paid. It's an underappreciated console by far. Of any system I've played the GC has the most comfortable controller, and I've played with many for hundreds of hours.

I have a GameCube and it works great for me. Might not be able to play DVDs, but it's worth it just for Metroid 2 imho.

Interestingly, I read an interview with the makers of "Enter the Matrix", and they said the only trouble they had during development was porting to the PS2. The scene towards the end where you're being chased by a swarm of sentinels was difficult for them because the PS2 couldn't cope with that number of individual objects, and so they had to use a special program to "cheat" their way around it. Apparently. Anyway, just fyi. Kudos to the PS2 for looking damn cool though.

Mmm, Good console.

GC is going pretty strong here ... Most game shops you go to all you see in the windows are GameCube's, GC Games, and GC Accessories. With the occasional new release stand-up cardboard cut out.

This is semi-related, but, does anyone know when ?Wanda and Colossus? is coming out? I kept hearing March ... then May. Now, I have no idea when it's coming out.

Oh, also, if you don't like the GC controller for certain games (fighting) they have a wonderful SNES like controller for it [addsig]

I highly doubt there have been release dates even mentioned, the game wasn't even announced all that long ago, and there haven't been any news updates I've heard about since its announcement. I'd guess it will be this year, but I would think the tail end of it personally. If I'm pleasantly surprised by it being sooner, then so be it

Most recent news is that it'll be called 'Shadow Of The Colossus' in Europe, but no release data other than 'some time in 2005'... [addsig]

Xbox!! best Console Ever, GFX kicks the Ps2 A$$ !! And Xbox 2 going to be released on november 2005, think about it ( Halo2, halflife 2, burnout 3, NFSU 2) Much better nicer, Cooler games on Xbox, and no one can change my mind!! LoL, that is to my opineon ofcourse, but i would rate these consoles :

  • 1: Xbox 10/10 | Best GFX+Sound
  • 2: Ps2 8/10 | Good GFX
  • 3:GameCube 6/10 | Kids Games only*
  • 4:PSP 5/10 | No Comments
  • 5:all other non-usefull stuff...

* ( Resident Evil was my best game, but shifted to that idiot Sony company, now its only on gamecube, the only adultvoilent game on gamecube )

funny, my kids are older than many here, and they play their game cubes more than any other console.

as i said, I have almost all of them, well virtually all. they seem to favor the cube :/

Games don't need to be adult/violent to be fun. I don't know why you are judging the PSP without having played it. If you give the PS2 8/10 for "good graphics", then the Gamecube should get at least the same marks given that it is superior to the PS2 in terms of graphical power. You say "think about it" in relation to the Xbox 2, then list current generation games in the brackets...which quite frankly has me confused. Finally, if Resident Evil shifted to the "idiot sony company", it would be PS2 exclusive, not gamecube exclusive. You'll also find that there are some res evil games on other consoles - PS2 has Outbreak, Dead Aim (perhaps best ignore that one ), Code Veronica, and is planned to get Resident Evil 4 sometime in the future. Not that any of them hold a candle to the Project Zero/Fatal Frame series, which you should really pick up if you like survival horror.

Despite all those problems I had with your post, I agree with you that the Xbox is the daddy of the current gen

well, yeh, i meant the company sorry, Idiot company of GameCube, and psp, iv seen it, played it, heard music on it, but i didnt find a big deal on that, and i know adult/voilent games arent all fun, actually, most of them suck, lol, but the thing is, i like Shooting game, plus burnout 3, its a driving game, but its Crashing style, and your last line about xbox, is absolutely True !!
