what's more difficult than bryce? holy shat that prog sucked. Anyway, sandbox should be called "litterbox" only i wouldnt even let my cat poop on it.

that said, I think satchmo is a man of sound mind and judgement and I hereby TRUST his judgement on almost everything.

I liked farcry except the "waypoints" system licked geriatric balls. and the Trigens were teh sux, u gotta be good to kill them, it took me awhile to learn the technique.

here are some links to some in game shots I took.

I dont want to re-size them so watch out for jpeg largeness.

These are all with sm 3.0 activated, and i still managed to get some decent framerates out of the game. As you can see this game had alot going for it, both indoor and outdoor areas were at times incredible.

No kidding. Just a few swipes from their claws transform you into human pulp. It took me a few tries to get through the Supervision lab. I think the best way to slaughter them is to shoot them with the shotgun when they're at least twenty feet (six meters, for our European friends) away. Load them up with at least two shots, just to make sure they're dead.

Once they get close to ya, it's all over.

Farcry seems like a nice game.

The outdoors interest me especially the trees and plants.

I have yet to see a game that has nice looking tropical trees and plants.

The AI is indeed much better because HL2 still uses nodes just like HL1.

Perhaps if Valve updated and got with the time then they could produce the ultimate game. Many of you know that HL2 is more like a movie and has more action than stealth.

No offense taken, I was just posting some beauty shots from the catacombs level. Far Cry definitely beat valve to the punch with this one, including the shader model 3.0 application, and I do have to agree about the AI, it is superior to Hl2, and the gameplay definitely had a more "open ended" feel to it.

However, in the end it was just too buggy, with support from Crytech being almost non-existent.(6 months between shady patches, and then a complete withdrawal from support after EA bought out Ubisoft). Half Life 2 wins hands down with its fullness of presentation, execution, immersive storyline, and environments. Far Cry was definitely no slouch though.

I stopped playgin far cry because i couldnt find any interest in finding out the story, it was boring to play after 10-12 levels.

Did I miss something? I thought EA didn't managed to buy out Ubisoft? On the other hand, I believe Crytech are making their next game for EA.

I couldn't resist. I wasn't planning on posting another screenshot from Far Cry, but this one is just so beautiful. It took my breath away.

It was taken the day after the sunset screenshot, just before dawn. And believe me, I was glad that it's daylight again.

I think it's the interplay of that beautiful skybox with the smooth-as-glass ocean.

The horizon on the right is picture perfect.

Actually, I think what makes the scene so nice is that the ocean is not smooth. The little ripples of waves in the disntance makes it much more realistic.

I wonder what people think: Does the water in HL2 look more realistic than the water in Far Cry?

Far Cry has great reflection, but no refraction. HL2 water just acts more real.

I was playing FC this morning, and I noticed a gameplay bug.

I just got out of the archive building (you know, the one with invisible Trigens), and I got rid of all the elite mercs with my trusty sniper rifle. I sneaked up to the helicopter, which has already started to rev up and I could see Crowe as the gunner on the helicopter.

When I shot at him, he didn't seem to suffer any damage. I lobbed a grenade at the helicopter, nothing happened. I finally walked up all the way in front of Crowe and shot him at point-blank range, and he just bled, but did not die. However, he didn't shoot back either. He just stood there, like a catatonic schizophrenic.

So I walked to the mounted machine gun and loaded up the helicopter with tons of bullets, and the helicopter is still unharmed. When I walked to the checkpoint at the gate of the warehouse, the helicopter finally exploded, and Crowe was left without a weapon. But I still could not kill him.

When I loaded up the level map, the helicopter was hovering above me already, spawned out of nowhere.

I can't believe Ubisoft let such a major bug go undetected in the final build of the game.

Ubi dose that alot, not to mention that Far Cry has alot of problems like that becuase it is very very linear but at the same time very open. So you can some times by-pass triggers for events and walk around empty areas and then trigger a second event and that will inturn trigger the first event and you will find a huge amount of enemys that come out of nowhere.

Ubi just dosn't have the same level of craftmenship that places like valve have.

And no other game has the attention to detail that Valve puts into HL2. I mean, the lighting effect, the friendly NPC going through carefully crafted scripted sequences, they are all so well done.
