Ok, well here goes

I had just finshed playing with dog and his ball when all the sudden a combine attack took place!!! I didnt wand anything to happin to Dogs beloved ball so I took it along with me. The End

Ok so thats the back story, but this is why its so cool BTW Im going to call it DB for short. Now as you know DB is actually a combine road shocker with the electroids removed, though its still programed to attack you so if you run from it, it will follow you.

It started out with me just wanting to see how far I could carry dog's ball. but then I thought "hey if this thing follows me it could be my little side kick through Ravenholm, and indeed it was.

DB ACTUALLY HELPS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed this when I came to my first zombie, Db will choose to atack a zombie over you and the zombie will choose to fight the ball over attacking you!!! And the ball takes no damage from this, so think of the possibilitys here, the zombies are all atracked to Db so all you have to do is come up behind the zombies and hit them with the crowbar or you can pick up Db and hit the zombie with it. Whats better then gavity gun ammo that follows you?!

Plus Db can run over classic headcraps and kill them btw its very funny. Father Gregory also took some shots at it lol.

So after a while I got atracted to the little guy but sadly we had to end our partnership after the cart ride at the church becouse the Valve guys made a player only forcefield awwww.

So go on and try it and you'll probibly find it very cool But be carful explosions and fire will kill the ball, but water wont.

I wonder if the Valve guys did this on purpose?

Very bad misspellings, eg: Fater Gregory (maybe a joke was intended, but IMO it isn't that funny) you mentioned that you will call the dogs ball "DB" for short twice.

Maybe this thread was intended to be an entire joke the was its formatted. *sniffs smells like.......steam

But thanks for the information! I could actually use this in a single player mission!

Omega slayer, it's definitely no joke.

I read about this on the steam forums a couple months ago and when I played through HL2 again I took the ball with me through Ravenholm. It was really fun to watch the ball match up against head crabs, because if it was far enough away it would start rolling and with 1 tap the headcrab's dead.

It was really fun to watch all the zombies going after the ball instead of me, but at the same time it quickly became too easy. Ravenholm wasn't scary anymore. I wouldn't recommend this neat little trick if you want to maintain the integrity of Ravenholm's mood.

i think its much funner to chop zombies in half with sawblades then it is to use the combine to ball to come up behind them

but still quite a clever idea

I don't think Valve ever intended for this type of gameplay, but it's a clever idea. It also illustrates the versatility of the Source engine and the flexible gameplay Half-Life 2 offers.

Did I say "Valve Rules!" yet?

I just played Ravenholm with the ball, and it wasn't nearly as fun. The novelty wore off quickly, and the annoying sounds from the combine ball really destroys the mood in Ravenholm.

So I just blew it up with an exploding barrel, and continued without it.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to get the ball across, because even though you're noclipping and flying around, the ball is still constrained by the invisible wall.
