No worse than how they ended Angel, about the only good thing to come
out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The execs decided it wasn't making
enough money near the end of the 3rd or 4th season, so the writers had
to wrap it up in about two episodes. Basically half the cast is killed
off and the other half are about to meet certain death. It pissed me
off royally, because it was actually a fair awesome show, and it seemed
a lot of people thought that. There was an online petition going
around, and it ended up getting over 44,000 signatures. Well the execs
realised they'd made a bad choice, but they'd already killed off the
entire cast, so there was no way back except for a hokey dream
sequence. I reckon if they're going to end a show they should at least
do it in a way that would give them the option of picking it up again
at a later date.

Speaking of 'Buffy' and 'Angel': Joss Whedon is a fairly good writer, at least, when it pertains to a group situation. He's doing Astonishing X-Men at the moment (as well) and it's fantastic.
By the way, Enterprise is terrible. There's no way around it. Even TNG was hit or miss, but, you have to really look at the set up of each series. The only ones that were/are remotely good are ones with a well fleshed out cast of talented actors, something TNG was overflowing with. All the other series' short of the original series (which pretty much sucked any way you slice it because it's so ridiculous) lacks in the cast area, the talent is usually sludged off to one or two cast members, combine that with bad teleplays and you have a prime-time-bomb.
I'm just hoping the next Trek movie is good ... not that I thought Nemesis was bad, quite the opposite, however, if you pay attention to the trend with Trek movies every other one is "good". The original movie was terrible, five is terrible, Generations, and Insurrection are also craptacular. [addsig]

Indeed! The only good Jonathan Frakes directed movie (Insurrection being the other Star Trek movie he made ... his other movies are ... just look them up on IMDB and you'll see what I'm talking about). [addsig]

I promise, it was entirely coincidental, I had nothing to do with this.

Some of us only recently thought of searching for 'snarkpit' in yahoo instead of just entering www.snarkpit.com in the browser... I thought the site had been down for the last few months!
