I bought Warcraft III a few days ago. So far it seems to be a really fun RTS game. So far Starcraft still reigns as the King of RTS games IMO. I got the battle chest so it also came with Frozen Throne. Anyways I wanted to know if anyone else plays it and what do you think of it? Also what name do you go by on Battle.net. I can add you to a friends list and we can battle sometime. [addsig]

I think its good that you play WCIII (and the expansion) before WoW, because the back story of WoW is WCIII and the expansion, so when you enter you get a sence of what the hell is going on. BTW I play WoW on the EarthenRing (name: Borlidin).....anyone else?

WarCraft III was utterly boring. I want some sort of StarCraft II.

I played Warcraft III when I could, borrowing a friends game, over 56k. Then, some time later I got broadband and bought the game and expansion. I've only played it a couple of times since then. : /

Name's OtZman, just add me and perhaps we could go for it sometimes. I like playing costom games, like tower defence and such, the most. Probably because I suck in normal games.

I played WoW before I played WCIII. It makes the story easier to understand. [addsig]

Minor correction: Total Annihilation is the king of all RPGs. Myth: TFL is second, Warcraft 2 and C&C tie for third. Homeworld's fourth. Then Starcraft (only because it's popular). Dawn of War is better, as are AoE 1 and 2.

/hates Starcraft

I'm gonna assume you mean RTS as opposed to RPG, in which case I don't completely agree, but TA is pretty awesome.

Willing to bet ya never played much of Myth: TFL or Dawn of War (few people have). And how can you call TA "eww"?! <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I thought that WC3 was pretty good fun (especially since it had a mission editor you could muck around with and download loads of maps). It raised the bar for me, and made Dawn of War seem pretty pants in comparison: not as many missions, no item system, limited replayability.

The entire Warcraft series owns, if only for the amount of intricacy (and, granted, inconsistency) in its plot, and that you get to walk around in their fictional world in WoW.

I liked Dawn of War until I tried to map for it. It had some really weird methods of mapping - like putting fake walls around a hill and calling it a building - which actually made it quite difficult to use. And don't even get me started on DoW skyboxes and fog. Nightmare. Having said that, the skirmishes were fun.

Dawn of War was cool for a while but it seems RTS games now days just aint got the spark it takes to hold me at it. AoE 2 was an amazing game aswell, but AoK got boring in the matter of days.

starcraft brood war is still the bestest. its so...lame and funny, looking at the small marines walking into the walls because you ordered them to go to the roof, so clever.

i reckon it all boiled down to taste.. i have played virtually everything named in this thread, and still none of them compared to fallout.. as far as RPG games go. then again, now that i think about it, most of the games here weren't RPG's smiley

/me shuts up now.

*whispers*

Warcraft isn't as good as EE :P

I made a bunch of stupid maps for bw, the Yokels series. I renamed all the units Cletus, Shotgun Pete etc. and made incredibly easy scenarios... involving getting "moonshine" (vespene gas) and stuff.
