I was wondering how long has the Snarkpit been up and running? What year did this all start? [addsig]

Well Lep registered Aug 21st 2001, and hes member 1, so I'd imagine August 2001, so nearly 4 years ago.

I think it has changed its url a number of times, too. Like from .co.uk to .com and now .net [addsig]

At a guess I'd say it got its upstarts (in the form of Lep's mapping tips page ) in 2000.

Me wonders if PFL isn't by any chance older than the Pit is.

? quoting Andrei

Yes, by a fair piece.

and this gives a rough estimate for the pit.

if you look at the screens, you can see some dates on the top banner of a few.

i know there was some version of snarkpit before our official membership dates, but i doubt there was one before my PFL join up date

i was at PFL within the first couple months it was formed.

I started a site back in 1998, with editing information first appearing later that year- it was all hosted on AOL first before anywhere else (brought to you by AOLPress technology) though it's not stored on the Wayback machine :/ But no, there wasn't anything dynamic until 2000 (ezBoard forums) and the current join dates at least come from using phpbb on PHL...
