Any goon with a beard could really play Gordon Freeman- and I'll nominate Ricky Gervais for it.

And, thanks to Addicted to Morphine's link, I've just realised that Kleiner is evil and all will be revealed in the next game...

Hahah, they'd have to loosen up the the waistline on the HEV suit for Ricky Gervais. He could do the soundtrack too... with such hits like... excalibur and free love freeway.

Ah Azelito, always there with the Walt-Disney-esque magical touch that turns fantasies into reality <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

I guess Valve is actively pursuing this option, but there's no takers yet.

That page is full of goat lies I tell thee! Valve have actually turned down loads of companies because they wanted to wait till HL3 was released so the understanding of the game could be achieved.

Edward Norton as Gordon, because Edward Norton is pimp s**t and one of the best actors on the planet. Even with no lines, he'd make Half Life an amazing movie.

Halle Berry as Alyx. Please.

Sean Connery - Breen. There's no argument here.

Leslie Nielsen as Dr. Kleiner.

If they did make a half life 2 movie then Hollywood would f*** it up by adding a love scene between Gordon and Alyx, not that there isn't anything wrong with that, but it will just mess up he whole "feel" of Half Life in general.

Yeah, because those romantic undertones in HL2 didn't mean anything smiley

There are a lot of very good adaptations. More then you realize anyway.

Also, face it, Gordon will talk. No way around that. The protagonist has to speak. The only reason why he doesn't in the game is because you're him. That wont be the case in a film though, obviously, it'll become third person ... unless the whole thing is in first person which is ridiculous.

I agree with Cass, on Norton at least.

Breen would be better played by Terence Stamp (The Limey, Contact) or Maclom McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Generations) if you wanted to go the more known actor route.

I think Sean Connery would be alright if and only if he grew a better acting bone then the stuck-up-ass-in-command and at the very least tried a different accent, which I'm convinced he has to be speaking another language to do. [addsig]

Interesting thought: imagine how a 'layman' would feel watching a movie of whose background he knows nothing where a silent, middle-aged man with glasses runs around in an orange metal suit in a giant metal tower grabbing things from far off using a massive, extremely unweildy-looking machine to throw at giant, semi-metal, semi-organic spiders.

"Far Cry" will be a movie in 2006, starring "The Rock" as Jack Carver.

It's also being directed by Uwe Boll, who is best known as that-guy-who-makes-rubbish-video-game-movies-and-isn't-called-Paul-Anderson.

In other words, avoid like the plague.

Interesting article. Personally I don't mind it the movie doesn't follow the exact story of the Doom series. As long as it can capture the tension, spookiness, and visceral excitement that characterized the first time I ever played Doom... I'll consider the movie a successful adaptation.

Don't worry, you aren't missing anything not knowing what they banter about down there. And i'm afraid this is a "would-be" movie, so it's not certain if this will actually exist (God, I hope one day someone will make such a movie! Much better than a bollsheet plotless doom3 movie!).

When they finally make the HL movie, I hope they won't treat it as a typical video game movie for kids. I want a real plot and some philosophy behind the story. I want real emotion involved. I want an A-list actor for the project. And perhaps Steven Soderbergh should be the director. [addsig]
