http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html
Google, along with a few Open Source organizations, is sponsoring
open source projects. You send them a project proposal, and they give
you $500 if they, or one of the organizations, likes the project. Upon
completion you recieve $4500 more from Google. Your mentoring
organization, either google or someone else, decides when your project
is complete.
You have to register before June 14th, and complete the project by September 1st if accepted.
Eligibility: "Someone currently enrolled in or accepted into an accredited
institution including but not necessarily limited to colleges,
universities, masters programs, phd programs and undergraduate programs." And it looks like you must be 18 and above.
Those of you who are eligible (and still don't know about this) go
ahead and check it out. It seems like a really great opportunity. You
get coding experience, plus you get the moolah if your project is
completed.
Edit: WinLibre is willing to sponsor a " new, innovative multiplatform,
windows compatible, Game.", just in case anyone's interested.

Would it count if you're going on 18 ? My birthay's the 22th of
october. I could have a go for a project, but I'm very busy this summer.
