First law of upgrading clearly states that you should never increase one piece of hardware beyond the capabilities of the entire system. Why would you buy a card that works faster than the CPU?
I can however acknowledge that not buying a bargain piece of equipment is hard to do.. tis no loss if it will fit in machine #2 when you build it. ![]()
My luck however is, you will have bought an AGP 6800, and your next PC will only have a PCI-E slot.

I bought the game about two days ago -- everything about the game is great, the vehicle driving, graphics -- only "unbalced" thing I don't like is the infantry combat. An example being that once anti-tank players use up all of their rockets, they might as well commit suicide -- the mp5 is absolutely useless.
The only problem I have found with the game, (and bare in mind, my computer is very powerful) is that it lags too freaking much. Yet my ping stays around a constant 21.

for ?130, and the pixel pipelines and vertex shaders can be unlocked to
the same as a GT. The clock speeds cant be increased very easily but
It's pretty good value for money.
p.s. I havent tried unlocking the pipelines/shaders as my processor and
ram are too slow to keep up with the 6800 as it is... more upgrading...

How can I unlock these pipelines......
By a very dangers but rewarding procedure known as "Flashing"
If its anything like the 9800 series cards, you can make certain models "think" they are better by flashing the bios to a better model.. EG, a 9800pro can sometimes be flashed to think its an ultra.
Problem is, several companies make 9800's and some use inferior parts and refuse to flash.. others have some good parts mixed with bad, and some are already ultra cards downgraded to pro's.. As silly as that sounds, it takes them but a moment to flash an ultra card to a pro card at the factory.. the theory is, sell twice as many pro's as ultras as only a marginally lower price, and you make more money overall in sales.
the pipelines and other hardware is all controlled by the bios.. If your card is capable of upgrading by flashing because it has the better parts.. then you will have a better card when you are done.
research your make, if you do a thorough job, you will know in advance your chances of success..
failure to do a thorough job, and you will not succeed.

I knew that much. I wanted more detialed instructions, like where i can get the stuff needed to flash it, how to flash it, and stuff like that.

Would you like someone to do it too?
Jeez, there is a little known and sometimes easily overlooked web page known as Google
try using it. Do not make me regret typing all that other post. ![]()

Sorry for double posting, I have no idea how quoting works, i cant edit that post without just adding to the quote. Probably me just being a noob, anyway I'll finish off the intended post. *edit* aaaah so thats how it works...
I bought the card for the sole purpose of being able to play BF2 and I dont have enough cash to upgrade the rest of my PC. I'll end up selling the card when I do decide to upgrade, or I might just get a whole new PC and use this one in my room. I also had no idea of how much my processor/RAM affected the performance of my PC until I got the 6800, turns out 1.8Ghz and PC2700 just dont cut it any more...
