Hmm... they say that there is no way to make an MMORPG? Well how about MMOFPS??? Everything the same way like an RPG but you are in FPS <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

Madedog, the RPG element isnt whats impossible, its the MMO part. I'm sure I've already posted this... but more than 32 players in Source is, to say the least, impractical for internet play.

I thought the limit was 64? Anyway in my assassin mod there would be alot of computer controlled civilians to beef up the number of people more- killing civilians decreases your score, killing a target civilian increases it, and obviously killing each other helps too

One thing I have noticed a general want for is that of a futuristic mod- I agree, there doesn't seem to be any mods set far in the future, such as Halo 2 and such. Perhaps we should create a simple DM mod set in the future, then go from there and expand the mod slowly, releasing the mod asap to get more people playing it.

Another mod I always dreamed of would be normal DM, but you can also play as a snark, and be the same size, and have 1 bite kills... Snarkwars... yerrss....

Anyone played 'Eclipse'?
That has a magical, final fantasy type theme to it...

If they can make that surely you can too...<img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">

I havent actually tested the player limit Myrk... 64 sounds about right. Not nearly enough to be called MMO. You also sound interested in a futuristic mod, what do you think of my idea?

Your idea sounds good to me (although it kinda reminds me of starwars ). But I still think a more "earthly" mod would be better. How about 2 bases fighting over an oilfield or something and the players in the bases use mortars, HMGs and cannons while the others use dune-buggies, tanks, attack/transport helicopters, fighter-bombers and APCs? Oh and each team could have a super-weapon alla red alert style (hmm a red alert mod <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif"> ).

Peeshaw, Single player is boring, Multiplayer is what makes games fun.

Example: Halo 2 - Horrible Story line, But yet awesome online multiplayer

Single player has 1 possibility- completion and end...

On the note of the poll, I could only choose one option- I can do everything except code, animate, and probably some obscure other job which I can't think of...

Ive just though of this remembering an old game called Eden. How about a futuristic team based multiplayer mod set on earth. Each team has a choice of 4 skills
1. Say a heavily armed person but is slow
2. Or a lightly armed person who is really fast and jumps really high
3. A robot whos really tough but is extremlly slow.
4. A very weakly armed person but can deploy turrets and controllable RC cars that can get through tight spaces.

As for game modes it could be something like attacking and defending a point, or simply CTF. What you think?

Ok, If this idea is a stupid one and no one likes it, disreguard it.

A Halo 2 mod, except we make it better then halo 2. More levels (ond the old ones), It might be hard to make the banshee, it would need a bunch of phys_thruster s and such

I think you might be better off pitching this to a site that actually has Halo2 content, unlike the SnarkPit, which has NONE.

The setting could be completely up to the mapper... it could be set on Earth with futuristic vehicles, on the moon where youd have to take low gravity and vacuum into account, Martian canyons, anything really. And I know it sounds like starwars :P

Why not do something such as... hmm...

an SP and an MP mod (altogether) such as... in SP you are an assassin, who has to complete some missions at first, but later has to escape from cops and "bad people" and the game would end like you escaping to a huge cruise ship...

Like umm... for first mission you have to kill a guy in a high hotel without getting caught. You have several options for this. Get there in time and bomb the room (without anyone seeing you ofcourse) or use a sniper rifle and go to another building on a bit further and shoot him there. It would require a lot of coding and SERIOUS mapping skills.

The second mission would be for instance, a karate trainer, to "silence him", too. You know Kung-Fu, but you still try to take him down with pistol, unfortunately he sees you and starts fighting you (in an environment which Neo and Seraph fought in Matrix Reloaded). So you'll have to beat him.

The third mission ought to be fail. You would have to get rid of a cop who wants to give a testemonial in a courthouse. He is in a safehouse, so you'll get there by a highway (avoiding the cops, ofcourse) and get to him. You succeed to kill him but you are noticed and cops start chasing you. That's the point when you have to start running from them. First of all you got to get to the city to get your documents and you'll have to do that by using balconies, drain pipes, such things... since the room is guarded by police officers. You also have to go to police station to grab couple of weapons they arrested from you. You do have two weapons - knife and pistol with silencer. Then you get your weapons and go to the hideout in a bunker in the edge of the town. The hideout is watched by cops (you don't know that) and the feds come and arrest you when you are sleeping and take you to jail for interrogation.

In the jail, before interrogation, you'll have to escape. There is only one way to do that - through the vent shaft, but you don't have anything to use for a screwdriver. So you'll have to improvise and ask a meatloaf for food (hoping you'll get a knife, too). All you have to do, is use the "opening" in the prison door.

You'll escape and meet a friend of yours who gives you advice to get to his boat by the end of the day. For the whole day you'll have to hide from cops in several places, and also moving towards the ship.

Anyway, finally he has to get on the ship. Lots of "cutscenes" (not like the ones in max payne or such, but like the ones in HL2) where people talk to you, you'll have to make your way to them without (again) being spotted with weapons by cops. So you'll have to, every time, either leave your weapons or take them home. If you decide to leave them, you'll have to go to weapon store before mission and buy some or satisfy with the ones at home. You also get to use a car.

So... what you think about the SP part? I believe something can be figured out as an MP mod, too, like "assassins" against feds or something... like the assassins have to take down someone important and feds have to find them (lots of places to do that)...

So, uhm... whatcha think?
