Just curious what all of you load up for your favorite OS.

I have Norton Antivirus and the wireless adapter loaded. That's it.

Norton, AIM, and WinCinema Manager, so my remote will work at any time.

I used to have Mozilla start up too in quick launch, but I've noticed now, since it's used so often, it boots in a few seconds (around 3). So, no need for that.

[EDIT]

Actually, I just checked and I can barely count to two before the window is fully operational.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

SoundBlaster AudioHQ Soundcard tool to switch between EAX/speaker settings.
Trend Micro Internet Security Antivirus software, but my free year of updates has just ended so its not too hot just now.
Ralink Wireless Network card Tells me wireless network info...and seems to be a necessary evil in my system tray.
nView settings So I can change my dual screen settings easier.
TabUserW Apparently something related to my wacom tablet...probably to make it work.

i hate annoying no-use ram-eaters.

there's a function hidden in windows somewhere where you can prevent them from starting up, but i used startup inspector to have myself a startup with no progs starting up.

there's a function hidden in windows somewhere where you can prevent them from starting up,

"Start" > "Run" > and type "msconfig", u'll get a window; go to the tab "startup" and disable everything that seems useless (soundcard stuff, scanner, quicktime, etc...); that's it. If you disabled something important, just re-enable it.

I forgot to mention gmail notifier as one of my startups. It saves me the trouble of checking my email obsessively (like every fifteen minutes) when I am at my computer.

I know, I know, I should seek professional help. But doctors do make the worst patient. I am still in denial.

Kain thats the nub way plz, I forgot the better one, msconfig is proven to be in-effective against many programs, namely (most annoyingly) Quick time task scheduler and realshd (some program to do with real player). Disabling these via MSconfig is just wasting your time.

Azelito, you tried using trillian instead of ICQ and MSN?

I noticed that, so far, everyone has some sort of antivirus running in the background.

Can you believe that I used to run my computer without an antivirus software? I thought it would never happen to me. It's like having unprotected sex with a prostitute (not like I've done that before).

That's why you go

Start >> Run >> regedit >> HKLM >> Software >> Microsoft >> Windows >> CurrentVersion >> Run

and delete the f**king entry in startup that tells it to start. By the way, msconfig-ing quicktime and realplayer works fine, if it doesn't for you, it could be another program re-adding them or they're other files disguised.

There's another place for the msconfig stuff, but it's easiest to find it by searching the registry.
